How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because I chose to work in this industry because it all began in High school. In the drafting class, I decided to draw the next year’s building trades house. I enjoyed dealing with the building department, and getting the plans ready for building. I then enrolled into the next year’s Building Trades class, and was able to build the house that I designed. I found that I had a love for building, and so I decided to start building houses. I worked for a remodeling contractor for the next 4 years. Then I got my Contractor's License and started my own construction company in California, as a design-and-build custom home builder. I went on to build hotels and condos. When I moved to Washington state, I noticed a wide-spread need for exterior repairs, and decided to specialize in exterior work: Roofs, siding, windows, gutters, skylights, and handyman. I love being able to help fix peoples’ problems. My background is from the ground up. Most likely, I can find a solution to your home’s exterior needs..

Repair a Tile Roof

When we bought the house the inspector said we had a few cracked tiles- we had 98 cracked tiles and of course our tile is obsolete. Homemasters was great they gave us several options at varied price points- we chose to have a section in the back replaced with the closest match to our existing tile- they were responsive and did a great job- we'll have them back for future repairs.

Install or Replace Wood or Fiber-Cement Siding

Dave's crew (Rob, Jacob, Lauren, Jordan, Jacob) was awesome! We had a very worn out old exterior of a house and now it looks nearly brand new! These guys are very professional, well skilled, and efficient. I was bracing myself for lots of hidden rot as the existing siding was very poor quality and beat up in many places. Rob was especially helpful in dealing with the discovery of some rot and missing roof bracing. He and the others did extra investigative work to determine best course of action at a very reasonable price. The crew always communicated well, did extra little things, and really made sure we were happy every step of the way. I plan to hire them again next year to do some critical work on our garage. I highly recommend Homemasters!

A tree fell on my roof. From Edith in the office to Gary the estimator to roofers Abel marco and chris and painters Rob and Jacob the job was completed so smoothly and professionally. Home Masters replaced my roof two years ago repaired it now and I would hire them again.

We just had home masters put a new roof on for us and two solar tubes in our family room. The work was excellent, timely and the cleanup was the same. The gentleman who did our son tunnels worm Rob and Jacob. Iâ m sorry, but I donâ t know the names of the gentleman who worked on the roof but they did just as good work.

A new roof by Homemasters was the highlight of our 2020! We originally contacted the company a couple years ago, and Stefan waited patiently for our decision. The whole team was wonderful! Marco and Enrique worked their tails off and were incredibly pleasant and kind. Liz from the office came out to check on the progress, and Whitney helped arrange for the painters Rob and Jacob to finish the job nicely. The owner Bill oversaw all the work and came out to make sure we were happy. We were ecstatic!

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
