Write a ReviewPurchased the $250 "special", was under the impression their team would come out and remove the moss from our roof however the $250 was just for them to blow off any loose moss and then treat the roof with chemicals.  When I called them back, they did send a project manager out to talk about my being disappointed and after a lot of "discussion" he agreed to bring their guys back out to retreat the roof.  he explained it would be $1,000 to completely clean off the roof and it would take about 5 years off the life of the roof.  He said the moss should die off by mid Summer and they could come back out and retreat (for another $400).  Two men were here less than 1 1/2 hours the first time and about 30 minutes the 2nd time.  I don't believe it was worth the $250 I paid but won't know for sure until Summer when/if  all the moss does die and fall off (with the help of a blower). They were nice enough but the ad wasn't clear and when I talked to them to set up the appointment he wasn't clear either.

I hired this company through an Angie's List Big Deal, so I already knew it was a good value. I needed this work done but also wanted to check out this local company to see if they were the ones to do the far more expensive (according to my online research) replacement of my gutter screening system. I was so pleased with the Big Deal work that I had them give me an estimate on the gutter screen replacement + upgrade and signed a contract for that yesterday. That estimate fell within the boundaries of what my independent research told me the new job should cost for a ranch house this size. We even talked about a porch project I need done in the future. This is the first roof and gutter service I will REPEAT using; no one else has done this good of a job. Thus I highly recommend this company.

It was a total nightmare. Since the estimator did not clearly communicate what we wanted, the crew who came to do the work was confused from the beginning. They did not show up on the day agreed, Thursday, and I was told that the company did not have all of the mateirals needed for the job, The dispatcher said he would call me the next day to confirm the crew would be coming then. They were to arrive between 11AM and 1PM the next day, Friday, which would have allowed sufficient time to compelte the job that day. I had to call the company to find out what had happened, as there had been no word from anyone by 2:15. They arrrived at 4:15PM, as darkness was falling. They started with cleaning the rain gutters by hand. But they started with the gutters on the lower story, not the upper, and they left a large amount of new debris on our roof and on the face of all of the gutters. While one of the crew was doing the "cleaning", the other advised me that we should consider taking a different approach to the job than what was previously discussed, and I ended up letting them follow their recommendations for repairs / reconfiguration of the gutters. That brought us to 5:30 or so - well after dark - Friday night. The lead worker told me someone would be back on Saturday to finish. On Saturday, the same workers came while we were out - at a time I said to not show up. Luckily, we stopped by the house just in case they were there. They had installed the rain barrels, one of them on top of a sprinkler head. They suggested that we have the sprinkler moved and leave the rain barrel where it was! There being no other way to locate the barrel with the existing gutters and downspouts, we now had a downspout with a hole in it (for the rain barrel outlet). The other rain barrel installation resulted in them breaking the downspout loose from the gutter and cracking it so that it now leaks at one of the joints. In addition, contrary to what we had discussed and agreed, they used white material for the one downspout we had them install and never did paint it to match as promised. Sunday - no show, no call, despite repeated claims that they work 7 days a week. Monday - they finally showed up at about 11:30. My husband pointed out the things that needed correction to the crew and discovered that they had let their dog out to run around in our newly landscaped back yard. We had to tell them this was not acceptable. So they managed to replace the section of downspout they had put a hole in with a piece of completely different color material, pulling the downspout out of its connection to the rain gutter in the process (not fixed). They also inserted a piece as a temporary "fix" to bridge the gap they had created in the other downspout/gutter connection they had broken previously but did not address the crack they had caused in the same area. Then, thankfully, they went away. I called the dispatcher the next day and explained what had happened. The lead worker had told a completeley different story apparently. All I wanted was to pay only for the work done to install one rain barrel and one downspout - the charges for "cleaning" the gutters was questionable but negotiable from my point of view. The dispatcher insisted that their customer service rep visit me to discuss the matter instead of just settling it and being done. So now I am waiting for the customer service rep to call and make an appointment with me. I cannot see that there is anything they could possibly do to make me happy with Homemasters, but I want to settle the billing, and this appears to be the only way to do that. Finally, the rep called me about 10 days later. In the meantime, I had received a bill that included work which was never agreed or performed. I was only able to negotiate $100 off the cost of the gutter cleaning, but I preferred just to settle the matter and get free of this company once and for all.

Estimator came out within a day of submitting a request via web form. He tried to get me to order the job on the spot, but did not push when I explained I wanted to get more bids. The products installed were what was promised and shown. The job got scheduled out a few more weeks than I would have liked. but they came on the day they promised and made a quick job of it. Installation looss great. Clean-up was pretty complete, the missed a few scraps, but they also left me some tin snips :-). Price was competitive with other bids.

They did an excellent job. They were responsive. The crew was very professional. They were timely and they are a good company to work with. Their prices were a little higher. There was another roof under the top roof. It was an extra $4,000 to have them remove the roof that was under the top roof.
