How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because I chose to work in this industry because it all began in High school. In the drafting class, I decided to draw the next year’s building trades house. I enjoyed dealing with the building department, and getting the plans ready for building. I then enrolled into the next year’s Building Trades class, and was able to build the house that I designed. I found that I had a love for building, and so I decided to start building houses. I worked for a remodeling contractor for the next 4 years. Then I got my Contractor's License and started my own construction company in California, as a design-and-build custom home builder. I went on to build hotels and condos. When I moved to Washington state, I noticed a wide-spread need for exterior repairs, and decided to specialize in exterior work: Roofs, siding, windows, gutters, skylights, and handyman. I love being able to help fix peoples’ problems. My background is from the ground up. Most likely, I can find a solution to your home’s exterior needs..

Install a New Skylight

Our three skylights needed replacing and HomeMasters was our choice Stefan came to our home and explained our options. He was clear and knowledgeable about our choices. It was a pleasure to deal with him and the crew he sent out to actually do the work. Spencer and Tannyr did an amazing job installing our new skylights. They were tidy and efficient. We also had some gutters that need attention and Stefan told us they could help us with those as well. Rob and Jacob worked on those rusty old things until they were sure they were working well for the next rain coming our way. We are so grateful and happy with the work that was done. From the time Matt came to meet me, I pretty much knew I'd hire Homemasters. He is very knowledge of the product they use and really took the time to explain their process and their warrenty. They were more expensive than the second qoute I got, but the other guys didn't spend near the time taking photos and going over the process the way Matt did. He was able to give me a written qoute at the time he was out. I had a small issue with a vent boot, but they took care of it for me while I was out. Didn't even know they had been there until the office person told me! I highly recommend having them give you a quote! Plus you can't beat a 50 year warranty!

Eric (main Contractor) was awesome gave us a fair estimate, stayed on top of the work, and even climbed up to help the guys lay tarps on a stormy night! Marco and Enrique great installers steady and cheerful. David and Hugo re-worked our roofline (turned into a big project) fixed underlying problems and worked their asses off! Whole team showed up on time, great attitudes, and left work area clean and organized. Exceeded our expectations!!!

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
