Write a ReviewThe inspection/bid process was smooth and the inspector gave some suggestions for how to solve some issues. Due to the mix of pine and broadleaf trees around my home, he suggested a micro screen gutter blocker, but I ultimately decided that the cost (around $1300) for the covers was not worth it, so I just ordered the gutters.I then saw a deal on Angie's List for half price gutters from Homemasters, which they were willing to honor in my bid, bringing the overall project cost down by about $250. At that point I accepted the bid. On the day of the install, the crew showed up to do the cleaning, which went well with no issues. They then tore off the old gutters, and uncovered a few rotten boards. They offered to replace the boards and I took them up on it (extra labor is $100/hr), and they were heading back to their shop to get the siding truck, and that's when the only real problem in the whole process happened. When the order was placed, the gutter replacement color had been listed as brown (which was the color of the old gutters). We had called and asked for black gutters instead, but it apparently never got changed on the order, and the guys were planning on installing brown gutters. Since they didn't have any black gutters in stock, we had to reschedule the gutter install for the next week. The rest of the install went without a hitch - they showed up the following week with the black gutters, replaced 2 rotten boards with new facia, and put up the new gutters. There was 1 area where we later saw water was getting past the gutter's edge and running down the side of the house, and Homemasters resolved the issue quickly with some additional flashing. All in all I am very pleased with the experience, and the only reason this review isn't an "A" is due to having to take an extra day off work for the gutter repair due to the color mistake. All of my experiences with the crew and the company were great, and I would definitely hire them again.
Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We appreciate knowing how we have been of service and where we have fallen short. All experiences can be learning experiences. Thank you again. Richard Lundstrom
A very pleasant experience. Â The work was done well and with professionalism. Â

Overall, it was a very good experience and I would use them again. They have an affordable plan for roof moss prevention.

When I made the inital phone call, I was lead to believe most of the large moss chunks would be removed during the debris removal and the smaller chunks would be killed by the zinc application. My roof was not overly saturated with moss so I figured the service would be exactly what we needed. When the service was provided, very few large chunks came off during the debis removal ( a process done with a blower). I decided to wait the two weeks suggested by the company to see if it would just die off. At the two week mark, a good portion had begun to turn gray and die, however there were still multiple patches of green. In addition, there were also chunks of white zinc under our dormer. I assumed this would wash off with a good rain. When calling Homemasters to express my concerns about the green patches, they were very friendly and quick to offer another service to address the issue. However, if I wanted the large pieces removed it would be an additional cost for "deep cleaning". They scheduled the free service to be done two weeks later and when completed they called to touch bases again on the process. I again waited the two weeks and seen a slight improvement but there are still some small areas of green and large chunks of zinc under our dormer (and still is months later). I think their process would be a good way to prevent moss from growing, but I would not use the process again for moss removal.
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate the fact that we may need to provide further explanations of our processes more fully initially. Richard Lundstrom
We had received several bids for our roof and decided to go with Homemasters as the estimator was knowledgeable and very professional. He was also able to submit a bid quickly and was very communicative during the process. After we signed the contract, all of the above disappeared. Communication was non-existent to the point where they scheduled to first come and do our roof while we were on vacation having never called us to confirm the date with us. I would not have known this had I not called myself and asked when they would do the roof.  Questions I had were not replied to, phone calls were not followed up on. I called several times to complain about that communication and it seemed to only get worse. They would apologize and state how busy they were, as if I am not busy too, then say they would get back to me, which never happened. I will say that the work done was done well, and we are pleased with the roof and the price was competitive. However I should comment that I stated several times that we need a thorough cleanup as we have a child and dogs. That was not done so well, I ended up puncturing my own foot and had to take my dog to the vet for a nail in his paw. Never once did they comment or apologize for this!  If you want somebody who will actually talk to you and treat your money with respect I would never recommend this company. That is until its time to collect their money, then they conveniently are available again. If I practiced my own business the way they operate I would be out of business, but I suppose they are special, the rest of us non roof installers are lesser beings.
Thank you for the feedback, we will use this information to continue to get better at communication. Richard Lundstrom
The showed up while we were at work and completed the job before we arrived home. They left a flier explaining what was done, and what would occur with the roof (the moss would sluff off in a certain amount of time). Everything went exactly as they said it would.

Homemasters arrived as scheduled. Their crew cleaned the gutters, swept moss, and applied zinc to kill the remaining moss. They advised that the remaining moss should die within the next couple of weeks. After 3 weeks, I still had a great deal of moss on the roof and one of the gutters was overflowing. I called them and they returned promptly, cleared the clogged gutter, re-swept and retreated the roof for moss. By the time I got home that evening, the roof looked brand new! It took two visits, but they did a great job. My only issue was that the first crew filled my yard recycling bin with moss and debris, making it so heavy that I could barely wrangle it to the curb and I was charged for an excessively full bin by my garbage hauler.

They did a good job. They came on time and they were polite. They always want to sell you some kind of follow up on the roof repair. They did a very respectable job and were reasonably priced. I would recommend them.

The first time they came out they did an inferior job and did not have the proper equipment and one of the two workers just sat in the truck the whole time.  After I submitted a complaint through Angie?s List Complaint Resolution process, however, they promptly responded and sent out another crew to re-do the job. The second time they did a good job and had the proper equipment. They did have an excellent price for the service, and since they responded to my complaint and did a very good job when they came back out, I gave them a much better score for this updated report. The Zinc Sulfate they applied on their first visit did kill the moss we had on the roof, and when they came back they used a stiff broom to remove the dead moss and a blower to remove the leaves they missed the first time when their blower was not working. They gave us a discount on the gutters because we had had them clean our roof. They were "A" all the way around. They were prompt. The sales representative was informative without being pushy. They were here when they said they would be and they worked very well as a team. They were friendly and neat, doing a great job cleaning up after themselves.
