How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because I chose to work in this industry because it all began in High school. In the drafting class, I decided to draw the next year’s building trades house. I enjoyed dealing with the building department, and getting the plans ready for building. I then enrolled into the next year’s Building Trades class, and was able to build the house that I designed. I found that I had a love for building, and so I decided to start building houses. I worked for a remodeling contractor for the next 4 years. Then I got my Contractor's License and started my own construction company in California, as a design-and-build custom home builder. I went on to build hotels and condos. When I moved to Washington state, I noticed a wide-spread need for exterior repairs, and decided to specialize in exterior work: Roofs, siding, windows, gutters, skylights, and handyman. I love being able to help fix peoples’ problems. My background is from the ground up. Most likely, I can find a solution to your home’s exterior needs..

Matt Wright came to our house and explained the roof replacement process. He took pictures and made detailed notes which he passed on to the installation crew. The crew followed his instructions to the letter. When completed Matt returned to make sure everything was satisfactory. He also went over our roof guarantee. I highly recommend Homemasters!

Install or Completely Replace Galvanized Gutters

We had Homemasters install gutters on our new garage. Their price was higher than the other company, BUT they were swift to quote, easy to deal with, and had the job finished before the other company had even got their guy out to give us a hard quote (which was important to us since the rains were coming). The men who did the job were courteous, and made a point of making sure they knew what we wanted. I'd use them again.

A great company to work with. Stefan did the inspection, gave us a quote and answered our questions. Marco, Enrique and Jacob replaced our roof in 3 days, cleaned up each day and were very nice guys. The owner, Bill, even came out to check on the job. We had two new skylights installed and they did a great job on them. Every person we had contact with were so nice and kind. I highly recommend HOMEMASTERS.

Darren, Levi and Jeff did a great job deep cleaning the steep tile roof of our two story home and detached garage. Messy 5 day job. They replaced several broken tiles and cleaned up great. The roofs look brand new.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
