Reviews
Write a ReviewI arranged for Homemasters to clean the gutters when I saw the Angie's List special.  I was promised a complete gutter cleaning and that the downspouts would be checked for debris and cleared if necessary.  Since I didn't go up to the second floor gutters to inspect their work, it's hard to say if they did a great job up there, but I could see that the lower gutters were cleaned.  It looked like all was well.  I was assuming a thorough job had been done up above as well until the rainy season came again in the fall/winter of 2012/13.  That's when we observed a gutter leak that hadn't been happening the winter before.  I have no trees over my house and it's just over 12 years old so there isn't a massive amount of debris washing off of the composite shingles.  There are no trees above the upper gutters, so it's unlikely that many leaves/seeds would be getting up into them.  The whole neighborhood is less than 15 years old so there aren't many big trees around yet.  Also, when I check/clean the lower gutters, I find only a few leaves have fallen/blown into them, so it's unlikely that very many would be getting into the gutters 10' higher than those.  Anyway, I am guessing that at least one of the upper gutters and/or its downspout were not thoroughly cleaned because in the rainy season following the cleaning, we observed a waterfall cascading from one of the gutter ends where it meets a downspout.  It's too high up for me to inspect, but clearly something is keeping the rainwater from flowing as it should.  I know this was not observed until months later, but I have my doubts about very much getting into the gutter/downspout in just a few months since no trees are over the house and it's south-west facing with no moss on that side of the house/roof.  My guess is that this was some build-up of years that just wasn't cleaned well in the spring of 2012.  Note that I am guessing and maybe there's another explanation; I just don't know what it would be except that they missed that corner.  The downspout makes a fairly sharp turn at that point so it's possible that if there was a little build-up of something that didn't get cleaned, in the next few months it got a few leaves blown into it to put it over the edge and cause the blockage.  I can see how that might have happened as it's in the far back corner of the house.  Who knows?  They did promise to check the downspout flow but I am thinking they missed that corner. I don't think these guys would have purposefully failed to do a thorough job.  I get the feeling that Homemasters is an honest and thorough business.  They were very professional both in person (Leo) and on the phone.  They did the job when they said they would and the price was very reasonable.  I'm pretty sure they'd come out and clean out that one overflowing/leaking corner, but I haven't asked.  It's hard to find time to keep up with all the home-maintenance tasks!  I've been prompted by Angie's List several times to submit a review and, until now, I've been just failing to take time to do it.

The roof and gutters look fantastic! We had the roofers come back out to crimp some flashing, straighten a vent pipe, and re-align some of the high profile hip shingles, all of which was taken care of while we were at the coast for a couple days. Their initial cleanup cleared sidewalks and patio, but blew much of the debris into the yards and flower beds, so we also asked them to rake the front and back yards to remove any remaining shingle scrap and hardware because our lawn service was expected and we didn't want to foul up their equipment or pollute their composting site, and they did a good job of that. They day after the job was finished, my brother, a contractor in Wisconsin, got up on the roof to inspect it and proclaimed it both beautiful and supremely weather-worthy. Although the cost was about a third more than we'd hoped, we are very pleased with the results and the amazing responsiveness of Homemasters.

We purchased the Big Deal offering of a roof replacement for $4995.00. The quality of the work was good, once completed, but at each step of the process the workers were unclear as to the scope of the work that was agreed upon with the estimator. For example, when we noticed that the old shingles had been removed and the workers were preparing to re-shingle, we had to ask about the moisture barrier we had stipulated needed to be installed above the dormer, and were told "we could do that if you want", implying it was unnecessary and would only be done if we, in our wisdom, required it. We felt put on the spot and clearly we were not the experts here. We also paid for new sheeting in some areas, but it wasn't installed until we brought it up. Our questions were met with the same "we'll do it if you want it" comment. My husband had to get up on the roof and determine which areas needed it. Then the work was done. An estimator had spent over an hour at the house, discussing in detail what would be done at each step of the process and assessing the scope of the work before the job started and noted decisions on a work form. For each subsequent part of the project, which included removing the moss from the garage roof and certifying it for 5 yrs., and replacing the corrugated roofing with new corrugated panels, on the back porch, we had similar conversations. Finally on the day that the cleaning of the garage roof was to be completed the driver of the company van backed into a tree in the parking strip. The blow sustained, was to an extent that will kill the tree, which had been planted in that location for 8 yrs. I feel like Homemasters is this strange gift that can't stop giving.

Thye are efficient and thorough and charged exactly what they bid. My only gripe was thye were slow in returning my call and seemed a little disorganized in their scheduling.

I called them as they were running a special on Angies List for gutter work.Mr. Johnston was very honest with me and told me what I needed, while he was here my husband asked him about our roof as we did not want to wait until we got a leak.He checked it out and measured everything, showed us he's samples. What I really liked the most was I am a care-giver for my husband and he did not take advantage of that. They were out the next week when they said it was so hot then but they had a great crew cleaned every thing real well and had it done in three days. I would really recommend them for a roof job.

We are totally satisfied with the service and professionalism of HomeMasters. Don was our Sales rep and he went above and beyond to meet all of our exacting needs. He was honest and forthright and exceeded our expectations. All employees that we had contact with were professional, responsive and courteous.   We had gotten several quotes, and all wanted to charge us a premium for the pitch of our roof. Home Masters did not. A few of the companies I called, failed to show or even quote our job. Most of the quotes we received were almost twice the cost and for the product we chose they were going to add another 30% to the cost of the job. We found this company on Angie's List and were impressed by the other reviews, So I gave them a chance to quote at the last minute. We had already decided on going with the Certainteed Presidental Shake and specifically requested that when we called for a quote. Every time I contacted Don or staff, they answered or responded within minutes to my calls. They gave us several homes to review and see the product and installation before we made our decision on the color and product. They honored an Angies List coupon even though it was for a less expensive product and only charged a minimal up charge for the product we had requested. The Clark County Inspector was impressed, he said "these folks really do quality work" They exceeded any and all county code requirements. Hector was amazing, he worked long hard days and you could see the craftsmanship in his work. The rest of the team also did a great job. Every day they did a thorough clean up of the yard and area. I had visiting grand kids and this was a critical issue for me with little ones running around the yard. Only one miss hap, one of the roofers stepped through an opening where the old vent had been removed and stepped through the ceiling of our bonus room. They had a manager on the spot within the hour to inspect, they sealed the opening immediately, and they had a drywall team out at 8 AM the next morning to repair the damaged and the ceiling was good as new. The roof install provided wasn't just shingles and tar paper, it was a complete roofing system that included a membrane on the roof, they removed the old pot style of vents and installed a roof ridge vent along the top of our home with will provide and correct a poor ventilation problem caused by the original builder. We can't say enough about what a great job they did, and how happy we are with the end results!

I had used Homemasters on a small home remodel and Tony showed me an idea book for garage organization so I had them back and he installed his suggested shelving design. It's just an amazing transformation out there. I am so pleased with it and happy with the look in my garage now.
