I can not say enough about Nick (electrician) & Heidi (admin)!!! We were getting a house ready for sale & a home inspector identified several electrical problems. The house is 35 years old, so naturally there was also out-of-date wiring. Then it was discovered that the electrical panel we replaced several years ago was never permitted by the Town of Herndon. When the inspector from the Town of Herndon came out to inspect our electrical panel he identified several more problems that were code violations. Nick met with the Town of Herndon inspector at our house to go over all the items that needed fixing or upgrading. All in all, Nick made several trips to our house & wound up practically rewiring the entire kitchen. He was confident, efficient & most pleasant to work with. Nick was absolutely great!!! I have no doubt about the quality of his work. Heidi, in the office, worked with us and the Town of Herndon to get all our inspections complete. She normally answers the phone when you call Beacon Electrical & she's also most pleasant & efficient. She never failed to call us back or send us copies of work orders. Both Nick & Heidi made a very expensive & unexpected electrical repair a positive customer experience.

I really don't understand how they are rated an A on Angie's list. Â When I called to schedule the appointment, the lady that answered the phone (asking "how may I brighten your day?") told me that it was about a $30 charge to come out and take a look, and that would be applied to the bill if you had any work done. Â They gave me a window of 8am-noon and I called them at 11:50, only to be told they would be arriving an hour later, 45 minutes past their window. The customer should not have to wait around all morning and not get a courtesy call that they will be arriving past their window. Â When the electrician arrived he told me it was $30, PLUS another $60 to simply unscrew the light and take a look. Â That should have been noted upfront, and makes them look like crooks. Â Then the electrician took a look at our light fixture which kept shorting and quoted me $280, which I knew was about $100 more than it should have been. Â I told him that was shocking, as compared to other electrical work we had recently had done. Â He went back to look at the light and told me that something actually was working that he thought wasn't a few moments ago, so he could lower my charge. Really? Â It still came to $220, which I still believe was rather pricey. Â This also took a really long time for him to diagnose and fix, in my opinion. Â I would not recommend this company, and they could have "brightened my day" by not lying about the cost to come out, nor trying to overcharge me.
Dear Mr. {member name removed}, Let me first start by apologizing for the overall bad experience you had with our company. You certainly deserved better. I do appreciate you bringing your service call to my attention and please know there is nothing that I won't do to correct the errors we have made. We are indeed human and it appears some mistakes were made in your case. All of our invoices are based on an upfront flat rate price per the project, this is the price for the duration of the project. The price must be agreed upon in our authorization paperwork before the technician begins with any work, this signature represents that the client fully understands the price that is going to be charged at the end of the service call. Our prices are not determined by what anyone else charges or what others think we should charge, but by what it actually costs us to run our business properly, pay our employees and office staff fair living wages, and make a reasonable net profit of about 10% after expenses. We are fully insured and operate in full compliance with all state, local, and federal laws and employment regulations and that adds significantly to our overhead. I look forward to having additional opportunities to earn your business. Again, I apologize that you feel this way and would love to rectify the situation, please call our office at 703-367-0900. I have left a couple voice messages for you, but would love to talk directly with you. I would love to talk about ways to make you a satisfied customer. Sincerely, Bob Hanifin, Owner Beacon Electrical Services, Inc.
Victor gave us the estimate on Thursday, the 2nd of July. Put in a temporary breaker so we would have electricity. Manuel and Alex did the work today. Very professional, took time to explain the process. I would definitely use their service again. Joan
Nick was knowledgeable and professional. He arrived promptly and replaced the annoying kitchen light fixture in a very short time. He was also personable and confident. He knew what he was doing and accomplished it-he even had s sense of  humor. We will continue to make use of his services..
