Reviews
Write a ReviewWe called in the morning and Lloyd was here shortly after noon. We were impressed by Lloyd's professionalism and responsiveness. Lloyd was knowledgable about the generac system and replaced the faulty part quickly. We will call on Beacon, and request Lloyd again in the future should we have a need for electrical help. Thank you to Lloyd.
I am so glad to hear you were provided with quick and efficient service from Lloyd. Thank you for your business and taking the time to write this great review for us! We look forward to working with you again in the future. Best, Bob Hanifin, Owner

I contacted Beacon Electric based on solid reviews offered in Angie?s List. The technician arrived and before we went into the house I described three projects for which I wanted estimates. The first, and higher priority, was to make repairs and upgrade to switches/outlets in au pair suite. The second was to isolate the garage from the upstairs GFCI circuit and raise the amperage to support tools. The third was an assortment of items in the main level. The technician finished his assessment and we sat down to review. The company?s method is to review via photos taken on the technician?s tablet/pad/surface and present a total cost figure. I didn?t not review the pictures, I repeated what I said upon arrival, I wanted prices for each project. The technician agreed but indicated I would need to pay a deposit of 10% to keep the work moving forward. I paid the 10%, $560.00 on my American Express. After a couple days I contacted the Beacon office and requested the three separate project invoices. In their reply they noted that they didn?t usually do this; I persisted as that was the initial requirement I gave to the technician. I received the 3 separate estimates, though unfortunately they were not exactly subdivided the way I had described to the technician. I modified the estimate that pertained to the priority project in the au pair suite, $2308.27, and sent it back with a note that this was all I wanted to move ahead with as I was getting apprehensive that we were not communicating well. The modification I sent back dropped one of 4 primary tasks and substituted one light repair for one switch repair. The work was completed when I was out of town. I have found no issue with the work. However, the technician did not walk my wife around and summarize the repairs made nor offer an invoice. He asked her for a check for $ 2169.27 . The amount seemed tolerably reasonable, dropping one of the primary tasks off the work order reduced the estimate, $2308.27, by $139.00 to $ 2169.27. BUT?I had given the technician $560.00 deposit to start the work. There is no work attributable to this deposit as my wife?s check was for the full amount. My attempts to get an itemization that would explain what was done for that money have only netted me phone calls from the owner, who wanted to ?educate? me on business and asked if I thought it was professional to ?try and re-negotiate after the work was done?. As to the former, I will happily compare bona fides on my 36 years in business and, as to the latter, I assured him it was in no way a renegotiation; it was an attempt to get him to explain what he had done for the $560.00 as my wife paid for all the work accomplished by the technician. Buyer Beware.
Unfortunately, this review is not entirely accurate. It is true the customer was happy with our work, but not happy with the final cost. The customer contacted us weeks after the our initial estimate and requested separation of estimates, which we provided. At which point, we received written approval to complete the work. The owner called the customer to discuss the final bill and to offer some sort of resolution, but was not given the opportunity to do so. We sincerely regret this situation ended with an unhappy customer.

The team at Beacon was excellent to work with. They scheduled our estimate promptly and Mike spent a great deal of time going through our work requests and prepared an immediate estimate for our review. Their scheduling team fit us in for a large panel replacement job within a few days. Mike was the technician and was prompt, courteous, professional, tidy and efficient. I was impressed with not only the quality of work, but the easy communication with both Mike and the office. Would highly recommend.

This is the 3rd time I have used Beacon Electric. They show up on time as scheduled, are very professional and courteous, and fix the problems efficiently. Lloyd, the tech, investigated the problem for intermittent recessed light (bad sensor) and proposed to rewire to by-pass the sensor, rather than order new part or replace the 30yr-old can light. I appreciated that this solution was the most economical for me. I also asked if he had time to mount a new light fixture, which he did quickly. He was very pleasant and respectful. I also liked that Lloyd discussed the cost estimates for this work, and possible future projects that I should consider, and made suggestions for how I could save some money. I would definitely recommend Beacon Electric to my friends and family.
I've had electrical work done in the past and never been that happy. Â But, I have been very happy with Beacon services. Â They have become the company I call when I have electrical problems. The first time I had them come out, I had a list of small repairs, and a fan I wanted installed. Â I have not had a problem with anything they've fixed. Â The fan was the big thing. Â I had another electrician install the previous fan and.. it was having problems in no time. However, I have not had a problem with this one - the only thing was I thought balancing was included in the cost, and he said it wasn't. Â so, I ended up paying a little extra. Â But, I think the installation was much better than my previous fan. I later had them replace the back and front lights. Â I ended up talking several times with the company because I wasn't sure what to get with this older home, and asked what they would recommend for a timer for the front light, and some other questions. Â They were very helpful, and the electrician there emailed me some information that helped me a lot. Â This was before I made an appointment for any actual repair. When I did call them to replace the front and back lights, I was much more confident about what I chose because of their advice. Â They honored the Angie's discount even though it was old. Â I have had no problem since with anything they've done. Â Love the lights. Â I recommend this company - the costs were reasonable, and the customer service excellent. Â Good company, and one I plan to keep calling when I want electrical work.
Owner came out to do survey and was very, very thorough. Gave us an estimate for work from which we could select any or all items we wanted to have done. Quoted price of $4,200 which we felt was reasonable considering the volume of work. Final amount charged was substantially lower (amazing!).  We elected to have work done in 3 phases.  Lloyd, who is very knowledgeable, well qualified and very pleasant as well, was here for first phase of jobs and back for each subsequent phase until work was completed, thus allowing continuity.  We are extremely satisfied with quality and timeliness of work done for us.  Even the young lady who answers Beacon's phone/does scheduling is a delight.  Would not hesitate to use Beacon again. In fact, we see no need to bother seeking out another electrical contractor! Beacon may be a small firm, but they are 1st class in all regards!
