I made an appointment without difficulty, and the technician Jesse managed to come to the house ahead of schedule. I confirmed the cost of the service with the technician and was surprised to learn that the office's explanation of rates differed from the technician's explanation. Nevertheless, I went ahead with the appointment, and Jesse, knowing my unease with the quoted price, worked quickly to diagnose and fix the problem. He was curtious, explained what he was doing, and even fixed another smaller issue that was not part of my initial request. Later that night when I discovered the outside plugs did not work, I immediately called the office, who relayed my message to Jesse. Jesse returned my call less than one hour later at 7pm on a Friday night, offered a simple fix (which worked), and offered to come to my house that night or the next day if the situation was not resolved. I was very pleased with Jesse and Beacon Electric and will use them again in the future.

Overall it went very well. The tech was knowledgable, kept me up to speed on progress and did a great job. As with most jobs you do on a house, don't assume that the initial price will be the final price. There is only so much that can be ascertained with a quick look and no open walls. Since I didn't do competitive bids I can't compare costs. I think it was a fair price for excellent work.

I purchased the Angie's List Big Deal for Beacon Electric for 4 recess lights for $499 for my children's playroom in my basement.  Before they arrived I determined that I would need 6 lights instead of the 4 in the room and they added the two additional recess lights for $145 each which is a price that I have found in DC to be pretty standard.  At my request they also removed a horrific looking set of track lights for $185.  While that price seemed a bit high, it was high enough to make me hesitate in asking them to go ahead and get them out of my sight.  The electricians were courteous, professional, and very efficient.  Jimmy explained the entire job to me before they started, in the middle when it was revealed that the studs did not run in the same direction as they do in an adjoining unfinished area, and when he noticed that due to duct work the lights could not be perfectly spaced, and once again at the completion of the job.  I was quite satisfied with the service that I received and I can at least highly recommend Jimmy the electrician if not the company as a whole, even though the entire experience from the time that I contacted their office was very positive!!!

I needed an electrician to come and help with a DIY project that I had begun but wanted to make certain was done up to code and safely.  Steven and Jimmy from Beacon Electrical were fantastic and did great work.  They were not patronizing about the portion of the work that I had already done, but gave kind corrections where needed and great advice and encouragement for when I expand the project later on down the road.  They were very punctual, very courteous, and hard working.  I highly recommend this company.

Installed and grounded new outlets. Installed 3 dedicated circuits and corrected code violiations in panel, work was done in in one day. Estimate was accurate. Jimmie was courteous and explained what needed to be done.

It went very well from first call, scheduling, phone conversations with the electrician to completing the actual work. The nice thing with Beacon was that the office put me in touch with the electrician who would be doing the work. Victor was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. He patiently answered my questions and set my expectations about what could reasonably be completed within the time frame. I was able to ensure the parts (fan, smoke detector, circuit breaker) I supplied were sufficient for Beacon to complete the work and they had everything else to maximize the actual work time without running to Home Depot..... something I learned from reading other Angie's List reviews. On the appointed day, Victor called ahead and arrived promptly at the appointed time. Both Victor & Miguel wore booties and were careful bringing in their equipment and the long ladder required to reach the 12 feet ceiling. They also laid down plastic sheeting around the work area. Miguel started on the fan while Victor checked out the circuit breaker. It turned out that the circuit breaker did not need replacing after all as it was just a tripped GFI. The circuit breaker was my "lay-person's misdiagnosis" of power outlets not working. Trouble-shooting is not part of the Big Deal but as Victor was able to locate & reset the tripped GFI rather quickly, he said it was FOC (free of charge)! I greatly appreciated that! In addition to replacing the one smoke detector, Victor also interconnected that to two other smoke detectors that I replaced earlier (again my bad, for not connecting the 'orange' wire). He then tested to make sure all three sounded as they should.  After Miguel completed the fan & fan switch installation, he tested and showed how the controls worked. He also tidied up and move the furniture back to its original position. I am very pleased with this particular Big Deal. Prior Deals did not work out well, either with scheduling or other limitations with scope of work or materials offered. Not only did Victor & Miguel do a terrific job, they also schooled me in the basics - which I greatly appreciate. Will definitely call Beacon again.

The Beacon Electric team of Steve and Jimmy arrived ahead of schedule, (they called first to make sure it was OK to come early)put on their shoe booties at the front door and then asked me exactly what the problem(s) were.  They went right to work and fixed the two outlets that had been giving us problems and were fast, knowledgeable and VERY POLITE, cleaned up after themselves very nicely (including hand vac the small wallboard cuttings that fell on the floor).  I have already scheduled a revisit to install pendants over my kitchen island and to do a complete electrical check of our home (house is 22 years old).  Great working with these guys.
