Two electricians arrived on time!  Quickly grasped the work that needed to be done.  They rewired, worked quickly, and didn't try to drag out the job.  Great two professionals they sent to our house!

I had purchased one of the Big Deals: 2 hours electrical service for $119.  Beacon sent  2 electricians who installed a new light, removed and replaced a dimmer switch, changed an outlet that was controlled by a switch, and then replaced an outlet in the garage that had been overloaded/burned out  from using an incorrect extension cord.  Additional cost came from having them install a whole house surge protector in the electrical panel.  They explained everything they did, and we were completely satisified.

I purchased the big deal for four recessed lights, but I actually needed six so I paid the difference. Beacon Electrical was very professional and they showed up precisely on time. They were careful to cover everything in the bedroom to minimize the dust getting everywhere and they cleaned up well afterwards. Very happy with the service.

We purchased an Angies List Big Deal for $3899 for a 7KW generator, transfer switch, permit and installation from Beacon Electrical Services on a last-minute whim on August 29th  2012, soon after the derecho in the Northern Virginia area which knocked out our power for approx 3 days.   The "Deal" was for a 7KW, but we had not done any research yet to determine what size generator would fit our needs.  Having buyers remorse since I had purchased on a whim, I contacted Beacon Electrical the next day and spoke with  "Dee", who advised us that, if we found that a 7KW would not work for us, we could get a refund through Angies List, or Beacon could put the coupon toward a larger unit.  Knowing that the Big Deal coupon was valid until Feb 15, 2013, we took our time with trying to figure out what we wanted to have powered. When we finally decided to focus on getting the ball rolling, we contacted Bob Hanifin, and he came to our home the next day.  Based on what we told him we wanted to power, he advised us a 20KW would be the minimum size necessary; the 7KW for $3899 would not be sufficient.  He sent us an estimate for the 20KW generator via email the next day.  The price for a 20KW was $11,260, including a 200 amp transfer switch, permit, installation, and pea gravel base.  Wow... huge jump in cost!  So, we delayed once again in making a decision, knowing that we'd also have to pay for a propane tank, regardless of what size generator we got.  Unfortunately, we delayed so long in making a decision to go with the 20KW, that Hurricane Sandy occurred, and the availability of 20KW Generacs was nill, and it would be several months before one would be available.   We finally signed the contract for a 20KW Generac on Nov 13, 2012, for $11,260, and were told it would probably be February before it could be delivered.  The generator was delivered on Mar 11, 2012 (delay was not Beacon's fault), and installed by Victor and Jesse on 13 and 14 Mar.  They arrived as scheduled, and called to let me know they were on their way.  A friend, my husband and I had already gone through the house and figured out what circuits powered what (our electrical panels were poorly labeled and incorrect), and we prioritized what circuits we wanted, and marked the circuits with colored tape, indicating the priority.  This is how we told Victor and Jesse what circuits we wanted powered.  Victor and Jesse worked professionally, and well together, and there were no language barrier issues between them/us, which was great because we ask a lot of questions.  They dug out an area and created a pea gravel base, and installed the generator right where we wanted it.  We have TWO 200-amp electrical panels, and only ONE could be powered by the transfer switch, so they had to move several circuits from one box to the other so that the transfer switch was connected to just one electrical panel.  The installation process took 2 full days, which was the estimated time they said it would take.  We then had to wait for the propane installation (another company did this), which took a few weeks to finish/complete due to weather.   Victor and Jimmy tested the generator on April 17, 2013, and all worked great.  They contacted me to let me know they were on their way, and arrived as scheduled.  Dee notified us by email that the Fairfax County inspection would be on Apr 18th.  All passed.       We decided to sign a 1 year service contract for $225, and Beacon found a couple of existing breakers that would not pass code, and replaced them for $140, and added 2 more breakers for another $140, so our generator cost actually totalled $11,765.   The whole experience with Beacon was a delight ("A" for everything), with a couple of exceptions....  Early in the process, we were sending emails to Bob with questions.  He was extremely busy, and did not respond to them, so we found it was better to call him on his cell.  In our many conversations with him, he was extremely patient, professional and helpful.   The other issue was with a wire that was not tightened securely in the panel on Mar 13th or 14th... Our GFCI tripped late one night afterward, and we called a neighbor to see if he could figure out why it tripped.  He pulled the panel cover off, and that's when we saw that it was arcing/sparking.  He tightened it for us.      Despite these 2 issues, we highly recommend Beacon Electrical, and look forward to having them service our generator for us on a yearly basis.

We purchased an Angie's list deal for $1000.  We knew there would be extra costs due to the size of the job (although I cannot imagine a house small enough to be served by the offered deal).  We also asked for some other small jobs to be added on, so the extra expense was not unexpected.  The service people were very nice, but disorganized and because of the amount of time it took them to complete the work, they did not do part of the service offered (inspecting outlets throughout the house).  They seemed competent, but inexperienced.  No major complaints--just not a super experience.

I received an email from Angie's list for a deal for 2 hours of electrical work for $119.00 from Beacon Electric. After checking the reviews for Beacon Electrical Services and finding they had very good comments I purchased the deal and was contacted that day by Dee. She asked what electrical services I needed and we exchanged emails, text messages and I sent pictures of where I wanted to replace the fixtures. Dee was very prompt and pleasant to work with. She made my appointment and I was able to get a window of what time the workers would be at our house. Victor called me the day of the appointmenet ahead of time to let me know they were close to getting to the house. Both Victor and Jimmy were very professional and did a great job. They kept me informed and made sure everything worked perfectly before they left. I already have an estimate for more work for Beacon to do in the near future. I would highly recommend Victor and Jimmy and Beacon Electric.

Technician explained the approach and clarified that drywall repair was not included. Did a thorough job in ensuring proper placement of lights in dining area but when he was not successful - was honest about it and explained why. We re-arranged the lights to the hallway and he was able to complete installs for all 8 with just 2 drywall holes.

Overall, Beacon Electric did a great job.  They were on time, professional and they were exceptionally clean.  They had to fish some wires and cut out some dry wall, but they cleaned up and left no evidence of dust, etc.
