This was basically a sales/estimate for $49. The technician took a look at my attic and basement. He was knowledgeable and spent time explaining the concept of air sealing and had me look at a quick video and provided some information that went into more detail. However, this was information that I was familiar with, so did not really learn much. I was provided a quote for air sealing the basement and attic and adding insulation to the attic...again, i knew these items were needed as i had been provided this information for FREE by another contractor and had researched this on government websites. The quote i was given was much more than my other quote even though there was $500 taken off the cost. I came to find out that the $500 credit towards home efficiency products is only when a large efficiency "package" is purchases. What kind of a deal is that Angie! I definitely do not feel that Angie's List should be selling this as a Big Deal, which are usually pretty good deals, this is not. i received no value for the $49. It's ironic that Angie's List was established to protect the consumer and now they are enabling this type of rip off. Of note is the fact that one of the items recommended in my "energy package" was a radiant barrier installed in the attic. I did some research on this and energy.gov indicates that it only reduces heat gain in the summer and is only cost effective in warm climates (florida, Texas, etc.) the salesperson immediately took it off the estimate without offering any defense as to why he would recommend it for Cleveland in the first place since the cost of this one item was hundreds of dollars. The company should not be telling people to get this product. This is very unprofessional and dishonest. Beware!

The crew was on time, courteous and explained the work they were performing. Joe was very professional and pleasant to have around. Sales rep was a bit pushy.

The sales representative came to give me a quote. I explained to him that I wanted to eliminate the water issues because I wanted to refinish my basement. There were a few things that the sales rep said could be done without an extra cost that posed a bit of an issue when the crew came but then project manager okayed them. I felt the price was high at the beginning but it is competitive for the job being done...I just had not done enough research prior. One suggestion would be for the sale rep to carry samples of the vapor shield wall material (Brightwall, etc) so that I could see the differences because I was under the assumption that it replicates the appearance of drywall, which it does not because it's going to be wavy as it follows the curves of the uneven walls and it is a very thin plastic material. I also wish sales rep would have quoted me in detail everything I wanted done because now the company is working on another quote to do more work that I told the rep I wanted done in the first place, like basement flooring. I felt a little ripped off at first because I thought my basement walls would have a more "finished" look from the initial quote but then again, I did not know what the material looked like in person...but they agreed to do many extras like removing a wall, adding a wall to hide the boiler and sump pump, adding trim to windows, fixing my basement stairs, fixing a leaky sewage pipe (yuck!) and evening out the floors so I did feel like I got a good deal in the end. Basement systems did a great job. I just think a bit more education to the customer and writing down all the details in the contract would have cleared up a lot of the miscommunication. Other than that the crew was great, went above and beyond with the extras and my basement is now dry and no longer stinky.

The project looks great. They did an excelent job and cleaned up after they finished. This was a difficult job invoving a lot of dust and dirt. They were very careful not to scatter it from the basement to the rest of the house

very good!!  was pleased with them in general, just a few little things disappointed me.  I feel that for the amount of money spent, they should have to put everything back together when they are finished.  they took off the  closet doors, baseboards  and did not re-connect my air conditioner unit when done with the foundation  therefore, i am going to have to spend more money to get a repairman out to reconnect it.   disappointed in that.  also I was told they would be back in the spring to repair the yard, this is only March so we will see if they honor this or not.. Overall I was pleased with the work they did.

Response from Company:

We are pleased to see that the member was happy with the work that we did on her home. She states that her A/C unit was left unconnected. That is not true. It was moved aside. We will be calling her to let her know this. As for the the doors not being rehung, the crew did not do that because there needs to be flooring put down to finish it. It is just sub flooring. The doors would have to come back down when that flooring went in. They thought they were making it easier for her to finish the project. We would be happy to come out and rehang the doors and we will be back in the spring. We have been in business for over 18 years and would not have the great reputation and numerous awards if we did that to our customers, by not coming back in the spring to complete the job. She does not have to worry about that! We will be contacting her to make sure is 100% happy.
