Reviews
Write a ReviewThey had a difficult situation and stuck with it until they could make it work. It did cost me extra over the initial contract but there was a lot of extra labor. So far my problem seems to be solved.

They sealed the crawl space, while doing so they also sealed up a water pipe. That water pipe froze. I called the company and asked them to come unseal. They did send a representative but they didn't do anything. I had to cut into the seal to get to the pipe to unfreeze it. During this process my house caught on fire and burned down. I called the company and they said they could not be held responsible for my house burning down. They are responsible however for the pipe freezing. Had they not sealed it off it would not have froze. I asked for a refund of the job they preformed and they have not given me this. They told me no way that is going to happen. They blame the pipe freezing on the cold winter.
First off, we are very sorry for this customer’s losses and have heavy hearts for what he and his family are going through. The facts surrounding this though are very clear. Our system seals the crawlspace and is a very great vapor barrier and does provide some insulation. When Mr. [member name removed] called us about a frozen pipe it was on the coldest day Cleveland has seen in 50 years. The temperature that day was, in areas, in excess of -20 below zero. He called and we did send out one of our technicians to his home, the same day, to try and help out the best we could. Our technician found the frozen pipe that was not covered up, as stated, and let Mr. [member name removed] know exactly where the pipe was. He took photos of the exposed pipe and told Mr. [member name removed] if he had to remove any of the product or if anything got damaged, we would comeback out and double check the job and reseal things if necessary. Our technician even pointed out to Mr. [member name removed] that there was an old abandoned furnace down there that he would like to touch up because of a rodent issue. Our technician told him that he needs to get it thawed out and that we could not do it because that is not our field of expertise. He advised Mr. [member name removed] to call a licensed plumber. We did offer to double check the job for him and see if there was anything else that we could do for him and even offered to come back and do some extra things free of charge. Mr. [member name removed] has an unheated crawlspace, the system worked great for Mr. [member name removed] under normal conditions and wasn’t a problem until the temperatures dropped to abnormal Arctic levels. The CleanSpace System does not create heat, it is a vapor barrier that will help with mold, mildew, dampness, humidity and odors. If the crawlspace would have been heated, the system would have kept that extra heat in and this would not have happened. All freezers and refrigerators are sealed and insulated, you need to have a heat source if the goal is to keep things from freezing. Per our recorded phone call, Mr. [member name removed] admits to using a propane torch in efforts to thaw it. He says, in this call, that he noticed it “steaming” when he ran out of propane and left to go get more. We are very sorry for his loss but we cannot take responsibility for this, but we do offer that if the house gets repaired, we will re-do the crawlspace encapsulation for him, free of charge, in acts of being a company that truly cares about our customers.

I was very pleased with them. We had an excellent experience with them. There was a crew of three men. The foreman knew what he was doing. He explained everything to us. He really took care of the job. It was hard work. It was already cold. They did it all by hand, because we live in a condominium. It's just one front wall. They were fantastic from the beginning to the end, as far as clean-up and taking care of shrubbery that fell down. It was excellent.
Everything went well. They were good. They came down on their price after I told them I found somebody that could do the job a little bit cheaper. They worked with me on the price.
Right before winter came, they were able to get it done. One of the things I ask these companies is that whoever the supervisor is, I want them to show up at least one or three times and they did. They showed up and I did have some concerns and they addressed the concerns I had as they were going along. The young guy that was with them supervising the team, he was very receptive, because I am a very curious person and I wanted to learn, how they were doing, what they were doing, and what they found. So when I went out and asked them questions, he always turned around and answered my questions and it was a mining situation for me. So that was an education for me. They think they repaired it well and it was a three man team. They were very efficient and they listened to everything the supervisor told them in order to go in the right direction. I had looked up another company and their quote was much more than what this company quoted me, so the price was good.
I was having trouble finding someone to build a short wall around the footer of a 3 season type room. It was sort of a tricky job (in my opinion) because to put in the wall, you would have to tie into a partial existing wall and also tear out/correct some previous construction work. When I saw that Ohio Basement Systems had expertise in crawl spaces gave them a call and had them come out to give me an estimate. Note that I did not comment on the price as it was hard to get a comparison but I thought their quote was fair given the work to be done. The price they quoted was the final price once the work was done.....no surprises. It was a multistep process with Ohio Basement systems personnel to ensure the job was spec'd out for what I wanted to do. First a Field supervisor came out to get a general idea regarding what needed to be done. He took measurements and pictures and then consulted with his engineer before giving me a quote. The next step after we received a quote and agreed to proceed was that work crew foreman (Dave) came out and again checked the work to be done based on the quote in order to make sure they had the right materials and manpower when the crew came out to do the work. Both times the supervisor and the foreman took time to go over what I wanted done and answer any questions. A three man crew did the actual work in two days starting just before Christmas and ending the day after. The guys (Dave, Joe, Mike) were all very courteous and professional. They again took the time to make sure all knew exactly what work was to be done. My yard tends to be wet and soggy and they put down plywood and boards to avoid getting everything muddy and putting ruts in the grass from walking back and forth. They cleaned up each of the two days they were here to do the job. (they probably left the area in better shape than it was when they started.) They were very efficient with their time at the job and did the insulation simultaneously with building the wall. At the end of the job, the foreman again explained all that they had done and we walked around the job site to make sure I was satisfied with both the work and the way they cleaned up. Great job! had
The sales rep did a good job letting us know what needed to be done, and what they could do for us, and at what price. He gave us several options, and did not try to "upsell" us. Their quote was about 1/4 of the other company that came in to give us an estimate. We were somewhat disappointed that the salesman led us to believe that they could perform the work within a few weeks of their estimate, but when we called to schedule, it was several months before they could fit us in. They did show up on the scheduled date, and the workers and their supervisor Jermain were excellent. They were very careful about keeping the house clean, and cleaned up after themselves each day. They initially thought the job would be just two days, but there were some employee illnesses which delayed things by two days. Jermain also realized, after initial excavation, that the outside work originally planned to correct a basement dampness issue was not really what was needed, and he corrected the problem by fixing a downspout drain for the same price as originally quoted. All in all, we would not hesitate to recommend this same crew to our friends. We were also somewhat surprised that the sales rep does not follow up with the client after the job was finished, and only contacts the client if there is a problem. I would think that they would want to personally inspect the job to be able to verify that the job was done according to his specs.
It went well, the person that came out to give me the estimate was very knowledgeable, professional, thorough and on time. The supervisor of the time was here every minute and worked alongside with them. He was professional and willing to answer questions, he would work along them and even stop to answer my question if I had one. Was very respectful to my lawn and did a good job with clean up. Gave enough instructions on how to handle it, it needs at least 6 months to settle. They said that if there is anything I need to give them a call. Honest, high integrity, business and customer oriented. I am from a generation where work ethic is so important. This company had a full understanding on what work ethic meant. They focused on this one job and this job alone until it was completed in a timely manner.
