Through HomeAdvisor Service, I contacted Pronto to address the following 5 issues: 1.) Caulking in a few areas throughout house. 2.) Install exhaust fan and find a leak from in ceiling bathroom before installing fan. 3.) Patch 2 small holes from towel rack in upstairs bathroom. 4) Problems with ceiling fan/light and overhead light...they all worked but something was going on at switch outlet Upon initial request for service, Spoke with Ali. I was told this was a guaranteed quote (all repair work would not exceed this amount), and told that once they handyman arrived they would know better what needs to be done. They placed a hold on my account for that amount (a deposit) and I was fine with that (I was not told this would be the amount I would have to guarantee, regardless of how much work was done). Had I known I was guaranteeing the dollar amount prior to them seeing project, there is no way I would have agreed to use their service. Handy man arrived promptly, completed the installation of fan (was told told they could not do anything about the leak and I would need to hire an HVAC guy). I actually would have preferred the vent fan not been installed because, knowing after the fact they could not find a leak above the bathroom, I will now have to pay to have fan removed/replaced again and leak fixed. The two small holes from towel rack were repaired (was not painted because I wasn't aware they would take care of going to hardware store and purchase paint. Therefore I told the handyman I would take care of painting) in less than an hour. Caulking was done in less than 5 mins. Made an appointment for following day, another gentleman to correct the electrical issue. Was quite pleased with handyman's quality of work. Another handyman arrived promptly the following morning for the electrical issue. He was able to identify the problem within 15 mins of his arrival, adjusted wires for ceiling fan unit and overhead light within 5 mins. Handyman went to hardware store to purchase a 3 way switch to replace one way switch. Was very pleased with his work. After work was completed I received a follow up call from Pronto, inquiring about my satisfaction with the quality of work sent by their handymen. I confirmed, I was satisfied with their service and quality of their work. Two days later, I realized my credit card was debited for $574.64 (the deposited amount). I called and spoke with Sean at pronto, explained, I think it is quite excessive for the scope of work and time compared to price. He informed me the $574.64 is what they guaranteed me they would do the work. My understanding of the guarantee was based on initial discussion with Ali; A hold would be placed on my credit card in the amount of $574.64 and the work I was to have done would be based on the quote given was guaranteed not to exceed the dollar amount.     HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities.
