Reviews
Write a Review7 guys showed up at my home. All professional and friendly. They completed the job without any issues, and left my basement cleaner than they found it. Very happy with the results
The crew was late every day. My house was a dusty, dirty mess during and after the work. I had to hire professional cleaners to come and clean the basement. It took 5-6 calls to Mike for the final 2 items on my contract to be completed. I believe the job was $5K overpriced as other bids came in at $15K. The job took to 4 days.
Steven, we can not find any record of doing work for you. We would love to help solve these concerns for you. Please call our office at 800-700-9171 so we can help resolve this.
A nightmare from the start! Had mold growing on our basement wall. Called and arranged for an expert to come out. The guy comes out, quotes around $3K. Itâs black mold, incredibly dangerous etc. We decide this is ok. We sign a contract and prepare for the work to be done. Prior to the work starting we look closely at the contract and realized only half the area was priced to be done. We call and they send the original guyâs boss out who does the measurements and suddenly the price is now over $7009!!! We get a half hearted apology and told the original âexpertâ will be operating a booth in a shopping center going forward. The work is done while we are at work. The guy who does the work calls me when heâs done and in broken English starts demanding payment over the phone. I get in to an argument with him and explain Iâm a) Not paying for work Iâve not seen and b) Iâm not giving my credit card number over the phone to a tradesman who Iâve never met. The office then call and I say I want to check the work has been done before paying. I get home and the drain and dehumidifier have been installed as arranged. The drywall was all missing from the wall and there was no moisture barrier installed to stop further issues. We call them and tell them this and they say it wasnât in our contract. Now the contract was handwritten and illegible in parts and weâd taken the bossâ word on what was to be done. We have a private contractor come out and replace the drywall as apparently this wasnât included in the job either. Then it rains again, water seeping through our wall and on to the floor. We call and Justin (at head office who is helpful) troubleshoots over the phone. We reach the conclusion that they need to send someone out. The guy comes out (very nice) and increases the barrier over the French drain so the height is raised where the floor and wall meet to stop the floor getting wet. He then says we need to install a moisture barrier on the wall and fix the leaking window frame that appears to be causing the moisture to come in. To do this, which is what we originally hired them to fix in the first first place, all the newly installed drywall had to be ripped out again. So they say that Basement Waterproofing DOES NOT fix leaking window frames, which is causing the issue, nor do they install a water barrier but they are basement waterproofers??? After we kicked up a fuss they comped us only $100 for the drywall replacement. They managed to mail the check to the wrong address with my name spelled wrong, re cut the check and mailed it to the correct address but still in the wrong name. We were very disappointed as we thought we were getting our basement waterproofed, at a steep price, to resolve and prevent the mold issue from returning, but we ended up having to hire another contractor and spend thousands more to come and fix their job.
Ashley W., We would first like to start off by apologizing for your negative experience with our company. This is not the way we wish our customers to have. We would like to remind you, as our inbound message states when calling into the office, that every phone call is recorded, and we will briefly explain phone calls as needed in this review. Our Inspectors not only use what they can see visually to help them determine what your specific basement would need, but they also factor in your budget as well as what you experience daily with the area. The first Inspector took what you had told him and what he could see and wrote a contract for the two problem walls you described. He did not feel as though a full system would be practical with the issues you were seeing. You then called us back concerned that only two walls were on the contract, so we dispatched another Inspector. The second Inspector took your concerns, your budget, what he could visually see and the contract from the first Inspector into consideration when he drew up a contract for your problem area which you signed off on. The work began on July 18, 2018. It is a company policy that upon the completion of work that our installation crew collect payment. We completely understand, and even offered, for you to hold back the cost of the dehumidifier that did not get installed right away due to concrete that was still curing. We were able to come to an agreement with Howard on this matter. On July 30, 2018 Howard called into our Service Department stating that he needed to schedule for the Dehumidifier to be installed. During this conversation (Which is the first you had with our Service Department) you and Howard were both fully aware that we do not replace drywall and even stated that you had a contractor out prior to supply you with a quote for the replacement. On August 15, 2018 our Service Department received a phone call from you that you witnessed water penetrating the wall. Unfortunately, our Service Manager was out of the office. The next day, August 16, 2018, Justin spoke with you and was able to diagnose the source of water with you. You stated that the window frame was rotted and falling apart in your hands. Justin believed that by looking through pictures and speaking with you that the window well was a separate source of water penetrating your basement. You then explained to Justin that you would fix this and call us back if the issue persists. A few days later, before having this fixed, Howard called us back to inform us that water was still penetrating this area. We explained to Howard that additional work would need to be done on this window to waterproof it, but we would send a Service Technician out to cut open drywall and determine if there was something else wrong. Our Service Technician verified that the issue was the window well. On September 25, 2018 Howard spoke with Justin regarding reimbursement for the drywall. Justin explained that this is not s
Efficient, courteous, professional and took care of our water problem in 2 days. They made a very overwhelming problem look easy to fix
I couldn't be happier with the job that Basement Waterproofing Specialists did for me. After 40 years in a house that had some basement flooding, it all went away. The installation of the French drain was complicated due to a model railroad erected over the wall that needed to be done. There was absolutely NO damage to the railroad and through their use of barriers, there was a minimal amount of dust left to be cleaned. I highly recommend this company if you need help with a wet basement.
Jack M, we would like to thank you for your kind review! The installation of your system was very challenging, but our management staff and our installation crew worked together to come up with a plan to safely install system along the wall with your model train, but also make sure that nothing was damaged in the process! We hold all our staff from office personnel to inspectors and installers to the highest caliber to deliver the best customer service experience. If you are to need anything in the future, please feel free to contact the office at 800-700-9171.

Did a quality job
Justin E, Thank you for your kind words about our family company!
Great company. Excellent work. Cleaned up after project. Mindful of not getting my house dirty when walking through to do part of the job on the outside. Best price and did more than other companies I got quotes from. They had to put a sump pump in my basement, caulk around the porch and put in a footer. They always called prior to coming and when they were running late. Worked steadily, with only break for lunch, then continued to work. I was not sold anything I didn't need, as they gave me three options for waterproofing, but suggested working in the basement first. They stand by their work. They took a their time and explained each step of their system and how to operate the pump. I highly recommend this company.
Joyce P, we would like to thank you for your sincere review! Our installation crews take the time to set up proper containment as well as making sure they clean up after each project as well as making sure each customer understands their new system. They treat every customer as family and home as if it was their own. We hold all our staff from office personnel to inspectors and installers to the highest caliber to deliver the best customer service experience. If you are to need anything in the future, please feel free to contact the office at 800-700-9171.
