Reviews
Write a ReviewOnce they began the work, it went well. It took a long time to get scheduled however as they only have one machine and it required 2 days back to back. They began the work in early December but then we had the extreme low temperatures and we had to wait until it warmed up for them to come back. They finished the work right before Christmas. The biggest complaint I have with the company was the lack of communication. It always took a phone call from me to get information. For example, the first day they were to come, I was told to expect them between 9 - 10 am and when I finally called to find out where they were, I was told they weren't scheduled to be there until the afternoon. I also found out that my sales person was gone with a phone call from me looking for information. They did not contact me about his leaving or to tell me who my new contact was. We got quotes from several companies to do this work and this was the only company who had a warranty longer than 12months. With the PolyFoam product, we got 5 years. The workmanship was very good - the team knew what they were doing and worked dilligently to get the work done and done well. We are quite happy with the new floor (which doesn't slope anymore!).Â
They did a good job of sealing the cracks, and I believe that it was done as it should have been, in terms of keeping water out. However I have 2 problems with the job. The first was that they never filled the holes in that they dug around the house. They dug 2' or so down to get at the cracks on a deeper level, which is great, but they never filled the holes back in, despite my comments on the evaluation, so I had to fill them in myself. The bigger problem - as I later came to understand - is they didn't do a very visually appealing job. The expoxy dripped in a few places, and the material they patched with was applied roughly and too heavy in some spots, making it look somewhat sloppy and unprofessional. What's more, they left the plastic ports and corks in, so I have all these pieces of plastic sticking out of my walls. I was unhappy when I found out this was the finished product, but i was told that's how it's done. I later had another contractor look at it, and he said the ports are supposed to be removed while the sealant is still wet. He said that Complete Basement Systems neglected to complete the job properly. Even though the cracks are sealed, it is unsightly.
They were definitely professional. Â They got to the problem and even replaced my underground downspout.
Done in timely manner with no surprises or changes to the original agreed upon service contract.
The procedure went very well. The work was done on time and very professionally. The workers did a great job of clean up. We no longer have a musty smell in our basement and the crawl space is clean and dry. It could be used to store things in. The materials that were used are very strong, a heavy white plastic and the area is light and bright now instead of dark, damp, and musty.
They were excellent. He was reffered to us by another provider on the list. He went a step further and replaced the underground drain with pvc. Also fit me into his schedule when he was already booked. They were all nice and courteous including the salesman.
On the whole, I thought they did a pretty good job, but there were some issues. Â The company tried to fix issues when we brought them up. The work generally was of pretty high quality, especially on the interior of the house. Â However, they did a rush job finishing the cement that had to be re-poured, and they did a shoddy job- the concrete is not smooth and was damaged (made not smooth) by a tarp that they used to cover it (due to the cold weather and the concrete curing). Â The top of the seal for the exterior waterproofing also needed to be re-done (which the company did at no cost after we brought it to their attention), and they replaced the original noisy radon fan with a quieter one (also at no cost). Â The job also took significantly longer than originally promised, and I was told by one of the workers that they should have had more people working on our job.
Well, we were quite conflicted about this review. We found Complete Basement at the Denver Home Show and thought it would be a great way to maximize the use of our otherwise unusable crawl space and cut down on the dust in our home. We called to schedule an estimate, and they were scheduling 2 or 3 weeks out. They then proceeded to call and email us multiple times over the next 3 weeks trying to get us ginned up about how great the company was ... before they had even come out to give us an estimate. We really felt like we were being stalked -- multiples calls and emails each week. Finally we got an estimate ... it was expensive, but the work quality looked excellent. So we scheduled the service, again about 3 weeks out. About 2 weeks later, we were called at 8pm to ask if they could change our appointment and show up at 8am the next morning! We politely declined, since we weren't ready for the work to happen. Then, about 2 days before our scheduled appointment, they called and tried to delay our appointment a few days. Again, we had to decline, because we were scheduled to be out of town. They promised that they would keep our original appointment. The morning of our appointment, they failed to show up. At 10am, we called them, and they said they had to push our appointment back to 1pm. They claimed to have called us, but they didn't. So, we learned that their promise to keep our original appointment just meant that they were going to try to squish two jobs into one day. And we all know how that ends ... our job wasn't completed on the scheduled date. They worked on our basement from 1pm to 8pm but couldn't get the job done. The next morning they did the same thing, coming to our house at 1pm after they had finished their originally scheduled project, and staying until 7pm. It was an annoying way to be treated. Despite all of that hassle, all of the scheduling snafus, all of the stalking by the salespeople at the beginning of the process ... we are actually quite happy about the quality of the work. The plastic liner that they use is very sturdy and very easy to clean, so it has made the crawl space a fantastic clean storage area. The workers were also quite careful in our house and they used a negative air containment process to keep the dust generated during their work to a minimum. The workers were also very polite. We would recommend the process to others ... with the caveat that the sales process is annoyingly overbearing, and the scheduling process is a mess. If you can get past those two negatives, you'll be happy with the final product.Â
My overall experience with them was good. They had a good price. They were professional, responsive, and punctual.
We made contact with Complete Basement Systems at the home show.  A rep came to the house and examined the crawl space.  We didn't have any water, mold or structural damage.  He measured the space and provided some options and prices.  He gave us 2 days to make an order at that price. On the scheduled day, they arrived on time.  They  removed all of the old insulation, and installed everything in one (long) day.  They removed all debris and cleaned up. They came through a window in the basement rather than the house. It looks great, and is a lot easier to move around in the crawlspace for storage
