After they diagnosed it, they ordered parts and made the repair. They were the only Generac repair company that would give me an appointment. The rest all said call back in a month.

    Response from Company:

We thank you for being fa valued customer, and for sharing your experience with the Angie's List community! It is our pleasure to have served you.

The employees have all been very professional and hardworking. The finished product looks good and the installer explained everything once the job was done. It also included monitoring the generator for 1 year. Note the customer is responsible to make repairs to patch where the installation is placed. I recommend Reliable Electrical and Power Systems

    Response from Company:

Thank you so much for the kind review! We are very happy to have you as one of our many valued members.

I scheduled my pre paid maintenance on my generator for Sept 7, 2017. The Tech arrived and began the inspection and while I was standing there I saw him replace the spark plug. I left the generator site a couple of times to attend to other things as we were under a hurricane watch/warning. At the end of the maintenance I received a copy of the work order, believing that my generator was now fully prepared for the storm. Due to the extreme Cat 4 or 5 storm approaching I made a decision to evacuate on Friday Sept 8, 2017. I returned to my home on the afternoon of Tues Sept 12, 2017. To my shock and dismay I found that my generator was not running. When I felt the cover it was cold indicating that the generator had not been running. I attempted to start the generator manually to no avail. When I checked the oil level I found that there was NO oil in the generator. I purchased some 30W weight oil and filled the generator. I again attempted to manually start the generator and it immediately started and ran continuously. Unfortunately because the generator did not operate when I lost FPL power I lost all the food from 2 refrigerators and now my wine collection of over 500 bottles of wine is suspected of turning. I have surveillance camera's installed on my residence. Because there was NO OIL in the generator I went to my cameras and viewed the entire episode from Sept 7, 2017 from the second the Tech arrived until he left. The Tech did not replace or add any oil to my generator. The Tech is seen bringing out a black plastic container which I believe was oil but he never put any of it in my generator. I offered the video to Reliable during our phone conversation. I had no internet service, so I could not send the video immediately. I called Reliable on 9/12/17 and was transferred to an answering service who took a message. On Sept 13, 2017 I received a return call from Jermain. I explained everything that transpired to Jermain. I never ever asked him to send another Tech to my home. After hearing the circumstances Jermain scheduled a Tech to come back to my home on Sept 14, 2017 but he could not give me a time he would arrive. My surveillance cameras also reveal that my FPL electric went out on Sunday at 7:15 AM and never came back on until I returned home and added oil and started the generator. The camera's stopped operating at 7:15 AM and began operating again when I started the generator manually. I waited at home for the Tech Jermain offered until 330 pm when I received a call from "John" who said the tech would not be coming unless I was willing to pay for "another" oil change. I explained everything that transpired to "John" and his response was he was only the deliverer of the bad news. This decision came from above him. I sent several emails to the owner Robert Biscardi that went unanswered. I even sent a registered letter return receipt which also went unanswered. No one from the company has viewed the video which clearly reveals that no oil was replaced or added during the maintenance visit. I pre paid for this maintenance/service and I did not receive what I paid for. To make matters worse it occurred while we were under a hurricane watch/warning. Emphasis Added! Reliable has lost sight of customer service as I have been a customer for years and never have has this issue. I wanted to give Reliable the opportunity to resolve this matter amicably. Instead they choose to treat me like a non entity and dismiss my issue without viewing the video or speaking to me. This is not customer service or good business practice.

    Response from Company:

We are so glad you are and were safe from the storm! We certainly care about you and value you as one of our dear preventative maintenance members and we know you have been with us for many years. Nothing has changed within Reliable with regards to the service you know us for, or the procedures we follow. Regarding your generator not running, as you do not have a remote monitor (and we'd be happy to add one for you if you choose) there is no way for us to tell on our end if your generator ran during the storm or not. I know you were not home for the storm (and once again, we are so glad you are safe) but many generators that ran for that amount of time did cease running around the 48 - 72 hour mark, depending on the size of their oil pan. With the specific model generator you have, the oil pan happens to be smaller and holds a small capacity of oil. I know you are stating that your surveillance camera shows that our technician did not put oil in your generator, and that would be the first ever such complaint for us after many years in business and thousands of customers served, and we certainly will get to the bottom of that. Our company and our technicians would have no motivation to withhold anything from you or any customer. The surveillance you sent in will certainly be reviewed. We were able to provide an enormous amount of support to our customers but very sorry you are dissatisfied. As you know, during an emergency situation when many companies are taking the opportunity to obtain new business, our company 'hunkers down' and only serves current members. It is true that we did provide an additional oil service (meaning, a separate oil service from that connected to the maintenance plan due to the extended generator usage) to all of our customers who desired this important, recommended service. It would have been unfair to offer that service to you for free, and yet charge others. We have one price for everyone. One last point for your consideration, no customer was 'transferred' to an answering service. Year round, our company pays for an answering service that receives the call automatically if all of our 20 phone lines were in use at the moment your call came in. Being that we were in an emergency situation, our phones were literally receiving thousands of incoming calls, starting from the week before the storm, until just last week. We are working on an ap or another portal for our members to make it easier, however please know that despite the thousands of calls tying up the lines, we did call back all of our members. We even brought in additional staff to ensure that every single member received a response and / or visit if requested. We will certainly be in touch once the footage is reviewed, and as always, if we have made a mistake, we will do everything we can to make the situation right for you. We thank you again for being a valued customer and look forward to being in touch soon.

Permit was issued on 8/1/17 and my weekly phone calls were not fruitful in scheduling the installation prior to hurricane Irma. Now my calls go unanswered and my new installation date of 9/13/17 has come and gone and still no communication from Reliable. Their customer service is poor and I can not get anyone to return my calls! Very frustrating to go through a hurricane knowing I could have had a generator installed but instead went without power. Still hoping to have this installed before the next hurricane hits, but who knows at this point.

The job went well. There was an issue with the gas tank popping out of the ground after a very heavy rain (Davie was flooded), so I wish they were more clear that the tank should be filling immediately after being placed in the ground. Besides this everything went really well and we are happy with the results.
