G.L. Hunt Foundation Repair

Got good advice on how to prevent further damage.

G.L. Hunt cut 2 electrical wires and damaged one of the vents during the installation of 14 crawl space vents. G.L. Hunt's initial position was that they were not responsible for cutting the electrical wires and that I would have to pay for the repairs. They sent their quality expert out to review the damage who told me that the wires were not visible and that they couldn't have foreseen cutting the wires and by contract, they were not liable for the repairs. (see picture below - the wires were clearly visible) . After escalating the issue, I got G.L. to knock off $325 dollars to cover the repairs (at this time, it's not clear if this is enough to cover the repair bill), but they would not repair the damaged vent. Overall, very disappointed in how they handled the job. Mistakes happen and when they do, you find out what type of company you are dealing with. If I wouldn't have stood my ground, they would not have compensated me for the cut wires and for some reason, they refused to repair the damaged vent. (after initially offering to repair the vent)

Completion of the project was done in a timely efficient manner.

DO NOT HIRE. They were cheaper than the other bids, but it is going to cost us much more overall. We hired them to do foundation repair, we paid to have a plumbing test before and after the work. They contracted a crew that left trash in the yard and broke a sprinkler pipe. We had to make them fix the pipe and un-bury multiple sprinkler heads before they left. We did the follow-up plumbing test after finding we now failed. GL Hunt will not pay for the damage to our plumbing nor provide a warranty on their work.

It’s important to hire people who have experience in their field. I had quotes and explanations from four companies and felt confident that I can trust Chuck and his plan. People they sent need to know what they really have to do. The self people are not educated about the construction job.
