We signed a contract for foundation repair with Coy Smithhart on 4/13/2013, we were told it would be about a month before the work could start due to the workload of G.L.Hunt. -The work was scheduled to start on Monday, May 20, 2013. -On 5/20/2013 @ 7:13 am I received a call to advise me the previous job took longer than expected and they would start on 5/21/2013. -5/21/2013-received call @ 8:30am to say: Home Depot did not have the lumber they needed and they had to go to another place to get lumber, David (who was the jobsite foreman) and Alex (who is David's nephew) with other workers showed up a little after 10am and worked until about 5:00pm. Alex said they would be back the next day. David left around 230pm he said he hurt his arm or hand. -5/22/2013- 2 workers showed up around 10am. A little after 12 Alex showed up with some other workers and the trailer with the materials for the piers. Alex left about 15 minutes later. Around 3pm Alex came back to pick up 1 worker and some jacks and left again. Around 530pm Alex came back to pick up workers and did a walk around. It was clear that the workers (since they were left with no person in charge) missed something that had to be done and the workers pulled tools (that were already packed up) and did some work to the Northwest corner of the job site. When that was done ? Alex knocked at the door and said they were done and wanted me to sign off on the checklist. I advised him that was supposed to be done by my husband and Coy when the job was complete. After my husband got home from work and we went out to see what they did, we were not happy and VERY disappointed to see what a crappy job they left behind. -5/23/2013-My husband called Coy and wanted to find out what the heck was going on since there are lots of pieces of un-treated boards propped up sitting on the ground holding up the house. Coy advised my husband that he would be out of town as well as David so a person by the name of Kenny Kincannon (who was the project manager and co-owner of the company) was going to come out on Saturday, May 25th @ 1:00pm to inspect the job site. -5/25/2013-David (who was supposed to be out of town) showed up at the house (no Coy or Kenny) and told my husband that those boards on the ground and under the house was temporary and Alex gave me wrong information on the 22nd as far as the job being done. David said all the blocking was temporary and they were supposed to come out a week after the piers were put in and remove all of the wood sitting on the ground. We waited the entire next week, no call from anyone at G.L Hunt to schedule the time to come out to finish the job. -6/3/2013 - I called G.L.Hunt to find out when they were going to come out and was informed that she had processed the paperwork that the job was complete. You can only imagine how livid I was. I sent to an email to the email on their website, the email address on a letter I received from them prior to the job starting with the "what to expect" and copied Coy (his email address was on his business card) to let them them know what was going on and I expected the job to be fixed and done correctly. Every email address was kicked back. I called the office again and she gave me Kenney's number and called him and he came out the same day to see job site. He gave me every excuse in the book as to the crap they left behind and said he would have a crew come back out the next day to fix it. p.s. he told me they had problems with their emails about a year ago and have never got them fixed. -6/4/2013 - Kenny, David and another worker came out to remove the temporary blocking and had to go the lumber yard and install 2 smaller new beams after they removed the temporary blocking (guess the job was REALLY never finished after all). -6/10/2-13 - We were tearing our the plywood flooring on the interior on t he house due to floor damage in the same corner where the temporary blocking mess happened and bumped into one the new beams, the entire beam moved and fell to the ground, shims and all which caused the 2nd new beam to shift and fall to the ground also. The beams were never nailed, screwed or secured to anything. I called Kenny (got his voice message) and informed him I was going to be calling the city inspectors office to come out and see what a mess they did. -6/11/2013 - I received a call from a Thomas (saying he was the companies superintendent) and he would come out and see what was going on. I told him I would call him when I was at home. He came out with another worker - again he had no excuses for what happened and they put the beams back into place and nailed them in. He informed me that someone from their office would call me to schedule yet another time for others to come out and secure the 40 feet of new beams they installed because those were not secured either and are currently just sitting on top of the new piers. Keep in mind everytime they have come out and put in new beams, shimmed and jacked up the foundation - they have not checked to make sure the house is level again. TO BE CONTINUED------- To sum it up, we selected G.L.Hunt because of the ratings on Angie'sList - Clearly the ratings don't serve any good purpose for the consumer. This company is a joke, nobody would want to experience what I am right now and I would not want anyone to experience this. Not many people go looking under their house after foundation work is done to ensure it was done right. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY..... And the city of San Antonio informed me they never pulled a permit to do the work. Â

I called G. L. Hunt based on other favorable reviews on Angie's List. Recently, my 15 year old tile floor in my foyer buckled.  After first having the house checked for a leak in the slab (none), I needed to be sure a foundation issue was not the cause.  Coy really went the extra mile to check everything and put my mind at ease. Since there was no problem, he didn't even charge me. I will definitely use in the future if I do have a problem.

The foundation leveling itself went great. Work completed on schedule and all landscaping was replaced afterwards. However, the sprinkler system was damaged and we had to pay for the repair ourselves. We had believed this was supposed to be covered by the company themselves. Likewise the plumber who they send out to check for damaged pipes afterwards is not paid for either. We ended up hiring our own plumber to do the work.

Had some small cracks showing up on some walls and figured I should have the foundation checked for possible problems. We called and made an appontment. Todd (I think) was one time and described the measurements he was going to make. He was very professional. Ran all the measurements and then explained all the results thoroughly with me. There was no question he didn't answer. I was very impressed with their service.

I disliked that they took a long time. They took about three months after the initial agreement was made to start doing the job. They were pretty clean. They came and did the job basically. The price was pretty reasonable.

We called GL Hunt to check the foundation of our home prior to beginning a remodel. The foundation technician arrived on time, was courteous and professional. Above all, he gave us an honest recommendation as to how to proceed, which was to do nothing! He said no action was warranted instead of making a bogus repair.

The company rep came out, reviewed the situation, took measurements of our "tilt" on our floor to show us exactly how much was needed to be lifted. He thoroughly explained what the process would be. We felt very comfortable with his knowledge and commitment since we had checked him out on Angie's List and he met all our requirements - responsive, cost effective and professional. The work was started within the week and it took two days to complete our job. The crew & supervisor that were assigned our job were punctual, courteous and professional. From beginning to end it was a pleasure working with these guys and we would highly recommend GL Hunt to any homeowner.

We were very pleased. They charged what they said they would. Everyone showed up on time and the work was done within a reasonable amount of time.

They did not hassle me about buying the coupon and they made it very inviting. I wanted to take care of the problem before it got worse. I don’t have anything negative to say, and they very were good.

They were very prompt and courteous at all times. Very thorough examination and explanation of work, satisfactory cleanup after the job was done. Plus a good warranty.
