We hired them to remove a large tree grind the stump fill to mounding with black dirt. When I spoke to them on the phone to set the appointment they said they would finish in one-day payment was due when the job was finished. Yesterday was the day; I got home from work and the tree was down but the stump was there, black dirt was in our driveway, and their tools were in the yard. It was drizzling so I figured they were taking a break or were intending to finish the next day- no big deal to me. However, after 7 pm after dark when our house was dark quiet I was just getting our baby to sleep someone repeatedly rang our doorbell (this went on for approx 30 mins). I checked my phone to see if someone was calling there was nothing. I nearly called the police. Turns out the person so rudely harassing us at bedtime was them demanding payment for their half-finished job stating the stump grinder had broken. It was completely inappropriate to come knocking after dark, to ask for payment for a job they did not finish, and do not contact me by phone or text earlier in the day to let us know what was going on. The man was very angry. We pointed out that not only did he directly tell me the payment was not due until the job was finished it was also on our contract page from them. If my partner had not been home I would have called the police as I have a tiny infant it was very threatening to have someone show up unannounced at night repeatedly ringing our bell. Unprofessional alarming.
