NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH EMPIRE! The day of my install one of the installers noticed the area around my fireplace was damp. He pointed it out to myself and the supervisor on site. I explained I did not want them to do the work if there was a chance my chimney had a leak. The supervisor checked the area and said he did not think it was a problem for them to continue with the install. A month later, we had a rain storm and the wood started to turn black. Replacing the wood, after having the issue corrected, was not covered in the warranty. Originally, I paid $5000 to install hardwoods in three rooms. When I called them back to replace 12 boards, they informed me it would be $1000 and according to the supervisor from the install, he needed three boxes of materials to do the work. I sent pictures of the job and informed them I had two boxes of wood left from the original job. I was still told I could either pay the $1000 or have someone else do it but it would void my entire warranty, not just that area but all three rooms because the warranty was for the entire project. I ended up going with another company with the leftover boxes of hardwood from the original job. It cost me $150. I will NEVER do business with them again.
