    I was very pleased with the service and quality of the installation professionals and product. I was contacted the day before installation and the morning before the installers arrival. They were on time, gave me an estimate of the time it would take, made sure the carpet was what I had ordered and was very careful moving furniture and returning pieces to the proper location. Overall experience was pleasant and I would recommend this company to others.

    Be prepared for a long day. Your estimate could be done quickly by someone else. I think I liked the length of the process because it gave us an opportunity to learn more about Empire and their attention to us. Our sales guy - Dave - was a very nice older gentleman that we could tell, really enjoyed his job and people. He spent a good four hours walking the property, measuring rooms and areas and getting to know what we wanted installed. When it was time to pick our flooring he had a truck load of options (which can be good and bad because it can feel overwhelming). After we picked our flooring, then came the least favorite part of the whole process - pricing. Because we were prepared to have more quotes rom other companies and flooring wasn’t an immediate need, we weren’t too attached to speeding things up. I recommend going in with a “willing-to-walk-away” approach. If you know sales then you know the first number isn’t the final number - your final number is usually the third or fourth one. We ended up taking about 20% off the first number because and both sides felt very fair about the price. We love the end result and quality of workmanship. Note: if you have creaky or broken floorboards anywhere, have extra sub flooring and nails or screws available. The installers will replace it for you during the install at no extra cost.

    You get a great deal on carpet but be ready to work for it. They make the order process very easy but when it comes to install day, everything went wrong. They had a random contractor that they hired to do the work asking for my credit card (I hired empire and did not want to pay random contractor) getting this worked out took 4 calls to customer service. When I called my sales rep, while he was helpful in getting things resolved, he told me I should take responsibility for my mistakes in not paying the contractor. Overall once they have your deposit and know you need the service the great customer service you received in the beginning vanishes.

    The carpet installation was very good, but they also installed some vinyl flooring and they installed the wrong color and didn't install the quarter round. I was not pleased with the vinyl flooring. The salesman, Jeremy, was very friendly, very thorough and very good at his job.

    The only reason that any catagory got any stars is because zero was not an accepted score. They repeatedly cancelled appointments and then rescheduled without checking with me. The first carpet arrived badly damaged and installation was further delayed. Electronic equipment was reconnected incorrectly. Visible seams in the center of the room which raveled the first time it was vacuumed. No one ever responded to my complaints. Worst customer service ever.

    The carpet installation itself was satisfactory. I love my carpet. Actually, the initial consultation was well done and professional. Where it fell apart was with the installers. When they took my check, upon arriving for installation, it took over 30 mins over the phone to clear it for some reason. Then the installer wrote void on my check and gave it back to me. She said that was the norm. They didn?t put my rooms back together the way they were. I had even asked them to take a picture before so they new where to put things back. I had to tell them to change a lot of placings. They weren?t put back where they were before installation. As they were getting ready to leave, we had to tell them to pick up all the remnants in the back yard and on patio. They had left a lot of scraps out there. Their vacuum cleaner broke (I later found out) and so the last few areas were not satisfactorily cleaned up inside. I had to tell them that they had left a mess on my upstairs flooring. They were unprofessional. Something I TOTALLY wouldn?t expect from a company such as Empire! One of the reasons I went with a large, reputable company such as theirs. The kicker was...someone called (on Saturday after Thurs finish date) and said that the check didn?t get handled correctly and I had to write another check and they would come pick it up. So I had to coordinate THAT as well. This REALLY left a bad taste in my mouth. Two different people from the company called. The first one wasn?t until the NEXT week (for follow up). I don?t feel like he was very worried about it, only that I was happy with the installation and that hopefully THAT made up for the rest. I was very disappointed with all of this. There was no compensation and I will NOT use them again and would never refer them to others.
