Reviews
Write a ReviewWe had a leak in a pipe in the ceiling in our basement. Service Plus sent, first, a plumber who said it was a clogged sewer line but he could not fix it. Then they sent a guy with a snake to clean out the sewer line outside the house. He ran into the problem and gave up. They then sent a guy with a camera who showed us pictures of our sewer line from the inside that showed absolutely nothing. He then jumped to the conclusion that we had a major clog and it would require backhoes, cutting into our finished basement wall, laying new sewer pipe and would take 6 to 8 hours to the tune of $3500.He graciously discounted it to $3125. Since he told us not to use much water or flush toilets we certainly felt the need to get it fixed immediately. So we agreed. The next morning at 8 am 2 men showed up with a backhoe but started hand digging around our sewer access. By before 9 am, less than an hour later, they called us out to show us they had taken a piece of sewer pipe out that they said was responsible for the clog and were replacing it. They then sat for more than an hour while they waited for the guy with the camera to come back out. They tried the snake again and it still did not unclog. Then a brainstorm hit! Try the snake from inside the house. Within minutes we were unclogged and by noon they were cleaned up and gone, leaving us a discounted bill of $2625 for less than 3 hours of work. So, if you are a plumbing company should not you have figured out you should try the snake from the inside, to begin with? Why did it take 4 separate visits to figure this out Why would they charge such an extreme amount when, really, they should have figured it out and fixed it sooner So the question is, are they just incompetent or did they do it on purpose in order to extort $2625 out of us? We have now called several plumbing companies and everyone has said that the charge is outrageous and no one can understand why they did not try going from the inside of the house, to begin with. We have it in writing from one company that this same job would have been $205. Then to add insult to injury when we called to complain and discuss this exorbitant charge, it took 3 days for the General Manager Jimmy to call us back and then he was abrasive and when asked why we were charged $2625 for what amounted to less than 3 hours of work his response was my people should not be penalized for being efficient. Efficient or incompetent He then said he would talk to the owner and call us right back. That was 2 days ago. If you are an upstanding company first you lower the price on a job when you realize it was not as extensive as originally thought and secondly you face your customers and respond to them. Do not be misled by the website that says you can email with concerns and get an answer within 24 hours. We tried that too. Or the part about calling and talking to the owner. That is a lie too. We called 3 times, sent an email and chatted online. Three days later we got a phone call from Jimmy who has yet to resolve this 2 days later when he promised to call us right back. Wow what an awful company. They should be ashamed of themselves. Update 5/10/2019 We were never contacted by the company about our complaints and so disputed a part of the charge with our credit card company. We were out of the country and when we returned discovered that Service Plus had filed a lien on our home and had a lawyer send us a threatening letter demanding payment and that we take negative reviews off the web. We sent a registered letter to the owner Chris Cunningham, in the hope that he was not aware of this situation and would contact us to resolve it. That was 10 days ago and there has still been no response. We withdrew the dispute with our bank and are pursuing other avenues to file a complaint against this company for its poor service, overcharging and total lack of customer service.
The serviceman was prompt, efficient, and knowledgeable. We needed a hot water line on the water heater sweated in 2 places. It took exactly one hour. Parts: 12'' copper pipe and 2 couplings, less than $5 retail. The charge was $280. We were shocked. They give you a price up front before they start. $79 trip charge which they apply to the bill. At allosteric $300 an hour for service, that is s ridiculous! We will never use them again and will share our experience in Nextdoor.
He did an evaluation of all our plumbing for future reference for us All else is ok for now.
they were on time. they quickly and correctly assessed the problem. what looked like a water leak between the floors of my house was actually a roof leak. they will be the first plumbing company i call if i ever need another plumber
