We paid them for a cleaning and inspection. He never cleaned the unit. He told us twice the gas valve was bad and that the unit was obsolete so we needed to replace the entire fireplace as the manufacturer was no longer making the valve. I looked up our unit, found the owner's manual, found the exact gas valve (which was just bought by the fireplace manufacturer from SIT) we needed on Amazon for much less than what they were telling us it would cost. We replaced it ourselves and the fireplace is working great. The valve cost less than the inspection and cleaning they charged us for. We were ripped off for the cleaning and were nearly taken for thousands more if we hadn't been diligent about checking. UPDATE: After I posted this review, the owner contacted me and said I was mistaken (I wasn't) about the valve being the part we needed replacing. (Interesting, since it now works with the new valve.) Instead, he tried to tell me that it was actually the pilot assembly that needed replacing and that was the part that was no longer being manufactured. I told him the pilot assembly was new, and, in fact, there were 8 new ones on Amazon. Honeywell manufactures them, not the fireplace manufacturer, but he tried to tell me they had to buy them from the fireplace company (obviously the fireplace manufacturer just buys them from Honeywell.) By this point, I was beyond angry as they had now lied to me once and then lied again to try to cover the first lie. Do not trust this company.

Good afternoon Mary, I wanted to address the review and clarify things from our side as we have tried through our multiple correspondences. The only service that was charged was the inspection & diagnostics of the fireplace. A cleaning of the fireplace was not completed and nor did we charge for a cleaning. The only item on the invoice is for the diagnostics and inspection that was completed by a NFI Gas Certified Specialist. Upon completion of the diagnostics, we called the manufacturer of the fireplace who told us the fireplace was obsolete and they no longer carry stock of the parts needed. If the manufacturer is not able to provide us the parts for repair, we are not able to buy parts from secondary markets as we would assume all liabilities for anything that could happen with the fireplace in the future. We do everything per manufacturer specifications, so due to UL listings and liabilities with installation of parts not provided by the manufacturer, we could not complete the repairs to your fireplace. Per the manufacturer, the fireplace is obsolete. This is the reason we provided the information and options for replacement. Please see all of our other reviews and please understand our biggest goal is customer satisfaction, but we can?t install parts that would create liability and possibly safety issues as they are not from the manufacturer of the fireplace. Thank you very much for your time and would be happy to assist with any other fireplace needs you may have.

I was looking for some light repair on one bi-level chimney with two flutes so I have CSofA come and inspect everything. I was charged for two fireplaces, which is completely fine, and told that the inspection fees (over $200 for both fireplaces) would be credited to any work done. I called to have some of the work done and CSofA was only willing to credit one of the inspection fees to the work. I asked why and they said the owner explicitly stated that was our policy. I'm sure they would do good work but I can't recommend a company that says one thing and does another or feels it correct to charge for two fireplaces only when it benefits them.

Great experience. I could not believe the service pro could maneuver our cast iron stove by himself. He cleaned the chimney from top to bottom, cleaned up after the job and was a delight to work with.

As a new home owner with many projects to complete, Chimney Sweeps of America has been the only 100% positive experience. Jon and Mark keep their word, they communicate with you. All the things a contractor should do, but most do not. I wish I could hire them for all my projects.
