  Comment: There is, what we believe to be an old french drain located in a dirt section of the basement that leads to a square cutout area in the basement floor where water naturally gathers. Often, when there is a great deal of rain water will flow into the square reservoir through the french drain. The square reservoir is about a foot deep showcasing several layers (cinderblock, brick, then cement floor). We are using a manual sump pump to try to keep up with water coming into the reservoir.
