"FIVE STARS to Cape Fear Air, Plumbing, and Electrical of Raleigh for their responsiveness and superior job installing a new Trane HVAC system in our home during the peak of the heat wave in July. Unfortunately, our 17-year-old Trane died during this period of record-breaking heat indexes. Josh Pitts, Cape Fear Project Manager, quickly and professionally responded with the right equipment at a fair price with an excellent install team. The installers, JJ and Spencer, did a SUPERIOR job removing the old equipment and installing the new system. The City of Raleigh inspector was very impressed and pleased with the top-notch quality of Cape Fear's installation (I accompanied him on the outside and inside inspection). "Regional did a good job installing a supplemental support beam in my crawlspace where the foundation had pulled away from the ground-floor joists. Of the three companies I contacted Regional proposed the right (IMO) solution at the best price, if only by a small margin. The problem area was a 1904 structure and Bill Shay, the Regional salesman, was very knowledgeable in those construction methods, especially thorough in his inspection, and he delivered a very prompt proposal with options. I had decided to use a competitor until I saw Bill's expertise and proposal. The installers (Leonard and Chris) were courteous and professional throughout, something I never manage after working in my own crawlspace. The Regional proposal included an engineering evaluation, which was disappointing to me. Those engineers are remote (in Seattle) and use a local field agent to collect data. Apparently, the engineers did not really understand the root problem or the 19th century construction methods (balloon framing and a stacked-stone foundation). They approved the Regional's recommended solution but made optional recommendations that were "off the mark" IMO. Still, t heir recommendations may have been fine for modern (post about 1950) structures. The work was completed yesterday but I'm a happy customer at this point."
