Write a ReviewTarheel encapsulated our crawlspace. They cleaned out the bulk of the debris and sprayed fungicide. They also managed to knock over a post jack. The second day they put a sump pump and replaced the old insulation They installed reinforced plastic sheeting, including over the base of the fallen post jack. The insulation began falling within a few hours of the crew leaving. They did send a second crew to fix this. Our older furnace depends on the under-house vents to breathe. These were all sealed up. The furnace pulled combustion air out of the house until I cut the vents open. In digging the sump well (at one of the highest points of the crawlspace) they cracked the sewer line, which let gravel fall in. Whenever the drains back up enough, the sump pump sends raw sewage out to the front yard. I am currently waiting for an estimate from the plumber to replace the broken sewer pipe and move the sump pump. I have called to discuss this and hope to eventually get a return call.

Felt rushed to approve the work and pay the balance. Discovered multiple issues later. Just inside the door there's a rock they missed, so now it's under the plastic, which will sooner or later puncture through. I asked for a better door than the one the first installed, but the second was also poorly made and didn't come close to sealing. Called/talked to someone about the issues, but afterward they stopped returning my calls. They also left lots of debris on the ground. The inspection didn't pass for multiple reasons. Waiting for them to come back and address the issues the inspector found. Update: THBS did follow up and fix the issues. They constructed a new crawlspace door that seals, which was the biggest issue. They took out the problematic rock. The inspection passed.
We’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate your feedback. Our team will reach out to address these concerns and ensure we resolve the issues you've encountered. Thank you for your patience as we work to make things right. Best, Tar Heel Basement Systems
My wall is stabilized.
Drastic improvement compared to my crawlspace previously. Workers seemed rushed during install and it was difficult to schedule team to come back and make final corrections to pass inspection. Sales person never responded to any requests for assistance after job was booked.

Friendly crew of three got the job done in a single day. Clearly explained the process and documented their work with photos. They were the most costly of the 3 contractors I got estimates from, but I appreciated their professionalism and the quality of products used.
I went with Tarheel Basement Systems to have my crawlspace encapsulated. I liked the Sean Madden gave but I have to admit the follow up was spotty. I was given dates work would be done but I had to call to find out exact times. I expected a little more communication but, in the end, Tarheel showed up when they said they would, and they did the work they promised. Macai and Fred did a great job encapsulating the crawlspace. I'm pretty picky and I went down and inspected things myself. There is no way I could have done a good a job as they did. The work these guys do is grueling in unsavory conditions. I had a small issue with the crawlspace door and dehumidifier pump, but both were fixed in short order. In the end I'm happy with how things turned out and I would recommend Tarheel to anyone looking to get their crawlspace encapsulated.
This was the WORST experience. The initial visit was a complete conversation i circles as the representative obviously didnâ t know what he was doing. An hour and a half later he quoted us a price to complete 3 walls with specific materials. When the installer came out the work completed was short 2 walls and of course the price didnâ t change. When I called the â supervisorâ he said Oh I see you need this & that at $4000 plus. We explained there was a misunderstanding and itâ s okay but you need to honor your word via your employee. They came up with several more price options. That commercial explaining a concrete install with gravel and a jack never happened. We received gravel and a jack. This is how you treat paying customers who have extended grace allowing you to come in and do honest work. God sees everything. You should have treated us better.

Great! Communicated well! On time and polite …and patient with question. Great work as well!
I couldn't be more pleased with JT at Tarheel. He did a very detailed inspection and reviewed them with me before the day was out! He also provided me with same day contract incentives! He personally went the full mile for me and delivered the dehumidifier before the encapsulation! I interviewed 2 other companies and Tarheel was the best by far!
