Very professional contractor
Master Remodelers (Don) have did two projects for my husband . My husband is a disable vet and we had to remodel the master bedroom to accommodate all of his medical equipment plus build a shower large enough for a gurney to fit. the second project was a sunroom . The work that was done on our home there is no words to express how please we are. Don and his crew did a fabulous job. If ever I need anything done they will be the one to do it. Great job and thank you so much.
Very professional. Will use again for future projects
Great work!
Don and his crew were very professional and provided the kind of customer service that reminds you of the old days. They were on time, worked hard, did a great job and cleaned up throughout the day. My wife and I agree that we got our monies worth and then some. We vetted several companies before deciding to give our business to Don. He provided a great product and his pricing was quite reasonable.
Very professional. On time, cleaned up after project work each day. More than impressed with the windows.
Windows put in, any mess cleaned up by installers both inside and out. Windows look great. Done quickly and exactly as I ordered/wanted. Will have remaining windows replaced with same people.
Built a patio cover
We hired Don to replace 10 windows and 2 doors. It cost approximately 15,200 for wind and hail doors. He did this quickly, but there were some problems. One window was defective. He replaced this quickly. But that wasn't the only issue. The others were never resolved even though I sent him a list of issues. Caulking looks bad on 2 windows, and more importantly one door has never worked well after opening it 3 or 4 times. ( I am not joking!) It was a 2000 dollar door that had the rubber lining coming out immediately, and door won't open or shut properly. I am not sure door really fits the space. When the guy he sent fixed the window, he said he didn't know or order the lining and would have to come back, but he never did. I will have to hire someone to fix our brand new door. We also hired him to remodel a small kitchen. It was a nightmare. He didn't measure the space properly, designed and orders cabinets that didn't fit the space. It cost us quite a bit more money during redesign, and my husband had to fix problems with cabinet maker. Contractor appears to be having financial problems. Don called several times asking for more money. The first time, it wasn't even for our job. He called my husband to tell me he couldn't pay subs for other jobs, and needed money. Don then requested 96% of final payout to finish job. I refused, I told him I didn't believe he would finish the job is he was paid that much. He never finished. We are still working on the kitchen ourselves. The floors were supposed to be patched where old cabinets were torn out, the first time they were not leveled. The second time the sub came out, he didn't cut it properly. It is bulging by the cabinets. I will have to hire someone to fix that as well. He never came out to see work or fix problems. Just sent a guy back over and over.... and my husband seemed to be managing it more than he was....very messy.
" All windows were properly caulked; any spots that the homeowner alleged was not neatly done were re-caulked for good measure. " The door issue was likely caused by another contractor (hired by the homeowner) that was working on the house at the time [possibly closing the door over an extension cord or the like]. " The floor repair was a very small area where old cabinets were removed (according to her specifications) and one less cabinet was to be installed in that spot (as she requested). " The homeowner wanted us to remove a great deal more floor and cure defects that we were not responsible for (and was not willing to pay extra for the requested work). " The owner also decided to change to a drop-in range (mid-project, after contract had already been signed) rather than using the existing free standing range (as agreed upon in the contract). This required an extra cabinet to house the range and she expected us to pay for it [which we did as a courtesy]. She also wanted the installation of this new range done for free. " The homeowner also had the plumbing connections removed and wanted us to re-route the plumbing from under the floor to go through a wall for free (also outside the purview of the contract). " She also made it clear that if we did not meet all of her demands (primarily the ones not included in the original contract) and she was not completely satisfied, we would not get paid. After such a threat and several things that she expected to be done for free we were not comfortable completing the project without further payment. Rather than submitting a progress payment, she invited us to stop the project and said she would finish it on her own. " The subcontractor she is referring to is no longer with our company, nor is he eligible for re-hire. If the subcontractor told her a story regarding payment of the subs [I certainly did not], it was a fabrication he created in an effort to collect a payment directly from her [he, of course, was paid in full for all of his services]. We have submitted copies of checks to Home Advisor [cashed by the subcontractor she is referring to] proving payment to that subcontractor for all work performed on her project. The same subcontractor collected payment from another client and never turned the payment in to the company. When customers threaten non-payment and offer to complete the project and keep the balance due, you don t have many options. Separation from a such a client seems to be the best option.
