JK General Contractor, LLC

BEWARE - this contractor is not suited for basement remodeling/ refinishing. I hired them after reading many positive reviews and have been repeatedly disappointed, the complete list of which would be too lengthy so I'll summarize SOME of the most blatant miscues. Installed 4 cable tv outlets, 3 did not work; JK contracted electrician refused to install ethernet (CAT5) outlets as requested in contract (homeowner completed, price was adjusted); surround sound wiring not operational; duct vent cover fell out of ceiling two days after project completion (can't be replaced due to size of hole in drywall). When these types of issues were brought to JK management's attention during the project they made a good faith effort to remedy (at cost OR the homeowner's expense) but they seemed to lack the competence for a job of this complexity. I contacted Chris G. with my concerns and assurances were given that they would be addressed, and they were not. Not bad people or bad intentions, just a lack of competence, follow through and attention to detail.

Please read this entire review, admittedly lengthy, as I sincerely believe you will find it beneficial. Our front stoop and stairs were in bad shape due to settling and a poor patch job installed by a previous home owner. My wife and I have had this "repair" project on the "to do" list since the day we bought our house, several years now, but simply could not find a suitable contractor on our own. A television commercial for Home Advisor inspired us to revisit the idea of addressing the issue after we had nearly given up. Anyone who has searched endlessly for a contractor, as we did, that conveys a sense of honesty, reliability and capability will understand our frustration. Home Advisor recommended three contractors, none of whom were particularly responsive to our request for bids. A second round of three recommendations included J.K. General Contractors, LLC. The sales representative from J.K. General was Tucker. Tucker was not only prompt and enthusiastic in providing an estimate, he also spent time trying to get a sense of what we were looking to accomplish, and recommended design changes to our original plan which were aesthetically appealing. We were quite impressed by the fact that J.K. General did not just want our business, but genuinely wanted to make sure that we had a finished project which would make us happy. Their price was competitive and the good will led us to chose to work with J.K. General. Our project manager was Chris. Chris is extremely personable and was accessible both in person and via telephone. He went above and beyond normal expectation to assist in seeing this project to completion. The J.K. General workers were fast, efficient, and skilled. The owner of the company, Jose, even took the time to come by our house several times to make sure that the work was proceeding to our satisfaction. This group is first rate all the way around. I feel certain that one could not find a better contractor for their project. I encourage anyone to go to J.K. General's website to see the finished product of the work done on our home. It is simply gorgeous. My wife and I have already contracted J.K. General for additional work and will continue to do so in the future.

Everyone impressed me from Tucker to Chris to the workers. They are doing a wonderful job. I will upload pictures when the job is done.

Installed concrete and pavers in our entire backyard. Chris did a wonderful job explaining every step of the process. The work was done professionally in a timely manner and on budget. We are very happy with the results.

Chris suggested an alternative material that I had not considered previously. We went with his recommendation, and we're happy we did. He has a very good eye for design.

Completely rebuilt front steps and porch, as well as completing repairs to the wall of a crawl space. Work was completed on time and on budget. Beautiful craftsmanship, including installation of veneer stone on front of steps and sides of porch, which completely transform the entryway.

While rain delayed things a bit, the end product was outstanding. We are already talking with him to possible do additional work for us. We are very pleased with everything they did in completing this project.

Refurbised stoop and installed brick walkway. Professional contractor, provided quality craftsmen, committed to a quick schedule and fulfilled commitments. Chris the Project Manager coordinated all of the work and provided a daily update. The quoted price was competetive and was also the final price. Attention to detail, good decisoion making and provided council on technical matters. This contractor is a cut above the competition, if your expectation is exemplery and professional service, hire this contractor.

They provided a good service based on quality, price and customer service expectations. I would recommend them to others needing their services.

I am pleased with the bathroom that was upgraded. I wanted something different since I have been in my home for 37 years. Most of the upgrade was completed ahead of schedule but due to a problem with the supplier for the new window I will have to wait for the completion when the window is installed.
