Reviews
Write a ReviewI had used Paramount to replace my windows three years ago and had gotten quotes from Lowes and Home Depot (in-store estimates) prior to meeting with the representative from Paramount. The representative was thorough in his explanations; sometimes vague, but he was patient and answered all of my questions. The price quoted me from Paramount was higher than those from the stores, but within reason; and, since I had them do work for me before, I felt more comfortable having them do it and was therefore willing to pay a little more. I did stick to my budget, however, and the representative made adjustments to the work and materials until we got it under a price I felt comfortable at. The door had to be special ordered and took a little longer than first expected to get in and we had some difficulty working around my schedule and the weather; for the most part, the representative was proactive and consistent about contacting me (we ended up leaving alot of messages for each other), except one Saturday I thought they were coming and they didn't). In the end, they ended up installing on a very hot Saturday. The installation team (two guys) came later in the morning than I expected, and I wish they had called to confirm the appointment a day or two before--especially since we had previously had delays--because I had started to think that they wouldn't make it. When they did arrive, they were courteous and clarified what they would be working on that day. The heat was terrible, but we took it in stride and the door and facie were installed by the end of the day. They cleaned up well inside, but I am still finding nails, screws and other pieces of material from the yard--most likely from tearing down the old gutter. With the new door on, they found that the storm door wouldn't fit back on (the handles ran into each other); the installer explained it to me and suggested I hold off making the payment I was to have given him that day until they cleared up the storm door issue. They came back Monday while I was at work to finish put up the gutters and Wednesday I got a call from my original representative to set up a meeting about the storm door. When he came, he apologized and said that they only did standard storm doors, so I would need to get one from another company (recommending Lowes). He then reduced my remaining bill by almost $300 to cover the cost of getting a new storm door. I was a little less happy with my overall experience than I was for my last job. As mentioned, the appointment wasn't confirmed (like last time), there was some confusion on my part over when the appointment was, and I was suprised that they wouldn't have known that the doors wouldn't have worked together. I still would recommend them, though, because they do make things right in the end; last time I had to have them back once to recaulk my windows a few months after they were installed, and there was no hassle. For me, knowing that they value their repuation helps me to trust them with my home (and my money).
After telling the salesman to leave (it was almost 10pm) I was contacted by their "Supervisor" the next day. He came out, took a look and I wound up getting it done for just over half of the estimate. The work is first rate, and looks great. The sales/management needs some grooming.
We've previously used Paramount to install 22 energy efficient windows in our house. So, we knew of the company from prior work. It almost seemed like the sales call lasted longer than the actual work. That's not true (2.5 hours vs. 3.5 days) but the call took longer than we expected considering that we already knew what we wanted. The work started on a Monday and continued through mid-day Thursday. Trim work took 2 days, the door about a half day and the gutters about a day. Our house is not large in square feet but it's a ranch style so we have a lot of linear feet. It was a big project. We were invited to talk to the men anytime and ask what's going on. The only issue, and it wasn't their fault, is that the door was installed during one of the colder days in February and the house got pretty chilly. Again, not their fault but we were pleased when it was finished and closed in. The men were competent, professional and worked steadily. we were very pleased with them. It also helps that they stand by their work and will repair/replace any thing that goes wrong. For example, previously we had a sliding window installed in our kitchen. it was hard to close and lock. If you worked out and really slammed it closed, you could close and lock it, but... They came out and installed a new window at no cost. We are very pleased with Paramount.
They did an excellent job. We got what we paid for. They provided a great service and a great product.
We decided that it was not the right time to do the job on the windows. It seemed like a good product. They were a little bit pricey. They were a little bit aggressive and kept calling us. We kept telling them that we did not want to do it. They were great when they came to give the estimate. There was a long demo, measuring and estimate and everything. We did not realize it would take so long. They were very nice. Once we looked around and made sure that we had the best price, we did not really call him up to do the ordering or set up the meeting. We did not really speak them out.
They did a good job. We have big windows and they had to custom the windows. They measured it twice and came when they said they would and did the whole job. They cleaned up after themselves and they windows look great. The prices were on the higher side, but it was worth it.
This company had sales people canvassing our neighborhood. My husband spoke to 1 and then a couple of weeks later I was working outside when I was approached by the same young lady. We were in the process of prepping our home for painting. We ended up asking for an estimate for just the 1 overhang. A salesman came out, did an eyeball measurement and gave us an estimate of $5700. We said "no thanks" and thought that it had ended. The company called us again and said that it was the end of the fiscal year and they had to get rid of inventory and could another person come out and give another estimate. We agreed. This sales person did another "eyeball" measurement and said he could have it done for $3700 because they had a lot of white inventory to get rid of. All he asked was that we write a nice letter if we liked the work. He also said his best worker, Steve, would be in charge and pointed to our nighbor's home and said they would be embarassed by the time this company was done. Wellthe job was eventually sceduled 2 wks later, the crew came out, looked at the job and said that the salesman underestimated by 50% for materials and that it would cost an additional $1095. The salesman ended up saying that my husband had given him the measurements - this was totally false. Ended up contacting the VP who said "No" they would proceed with the original price and we would have "Steve" as promised and another date was set up. My husband waited and no one showed up - they called and said there was a miscommunication. Another date was set up and the crew showed up. But no Steve - never even got to see that guy. The 3 guys that did the work were fine (though the head guy shouldn't come to the door for the first time with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth! - a bit unprofessional.). It was promised that the work would be done in a day - it took 2 (not a big deal). And our neighbor would not be "embarassed" by the quality of the work. It is fine but doesn't look much different than our neighbor's. Just overall, a pretty poor, disappointing experience. And we probably still paid too much - but that is what we agreed to.
Paramount did mis-measure this job, and so when the homeowner called the VP, it was agreed that Paramount would complete the job as contracted, with no extra monies charged. This decision resulted in Paramount's absorbing over $1000 in materials costs in an effort to honor the contract with the customer. This customer also did "sign off" on this job as 100% satisfied, and Paramount did not collect any monies above the original $200 deposit until that time.
The presentation was too long and high pressured. The windows are so impressive, they sell themselves. Due to high pressure sales men, I did not buy at time of presentation. Next day, I received a phone call from customer service department to schedule for a (non-commissioned) supervisor to come by to make me a deal. I scheduled and then called to reschedule but communication in the office failed and supervisor showed when I was not available. The office then called to reschedule with me, again. This time I was waiting for him to show, and received a call from the office, asking why I was not home. I explained that I am home and have been waiting for a representative to show up. A representative (not a supervisor of any kind) finally shows up two hours later. He writes up an estimate for the front windows and we accepted, with a deposit check. They informed us that the windows would be manufactured and completed within four weeks, and then they would call us to schedule installation. Exactly four weeks later the office called to schedule the installation with us. We removed all furniture from around the windows as well as drapes and blinds. The installers arrived on time, and were courteous and very polite. I was very impressed with the professionalism they had as well as the respect they showed to my home and yard. They removed the windows efficiently, and left no debris behind. The best part of the whole experience was the installers!! After they caulked and wrapped the windows they came inside to demonstrate the features of the windows. KUDO's to the installers!!!
They were very efficient, but they took their time to get the job done right. The windows they put in were of very high quality and it came at an excellent price. Their salesman was very helpful as he appeared to dig through and find every discount he could. They are also holding open the contract for 2 years so we get the same price when we do the back of the house. There was very little mess and they did all of them in a day and a half. The sales talk was excellent and it explained everything, but it went on for way too long. I am very happy with the windows as they are so much better than the original ones we had. They have their own line of windows and I am guessing that there are comparable to other high quality windows. They are top quality and I don't see any room for any improvement of their windows.
The second transaction was for the remaining windows. This time we had problems with two windows. The first problem as that one of the windows opened the wrong way. It was their error and they fixed it without complaint. The second issue was that one window was hard to close. If you pumped iron, you could close it but normal people couldn't. When we complained, our salesman came back out and agreed that it shouldn't be that hard to close and we received a replacement without problems.
