Reviews
Write a ReviewMr. Kaski & his crew were true professionals, as well as polite & friendly. They came when they said the would and stayed late to get the job done in my 3 day perimeter. I am very pleased with the work they did and with their clean up afterwards. Very trustworthy and competent.
This residence contained a few interior structural concerns we were able to reinforce easily although the broken and cracking exterior slab was the larger part of the project. The client decided to proceed with the option of removing and replacing the old slab with an entire new slab and concrete steps. The most challenging portion of the project was finishing the concrete during a rain event, under a flowing gutter, and into the night. To reinforce the weakened top surface due to the rain water during finishing, a concrete resurfacing/bonding product was added at a later date.
Greg communicates well and doesn't overstate the situation. He was reluctant to say that we shouldn't worry about our foundation, but suggested lower cost alternatives which we could adopt in relieving additional water caused pressure on it. We asked him to submit a bid on doing some of the re-grading to divert water away from the foundation and for possible reinforcement of the basement walls. I have no basis for complaint, but since he is the only structural engineer with whom I have consulted, don't have any basis for comparison (which is why I didn't give 5 stars).
Infiltrating water is a common problem with enclosed basements. This particular inspection was similar in many ways to so many prior. In this case surface water runoff collecting around the residence overloaded the foundation wall causing excessive cracking and bowing of the wall.
Prompt and effecient.
The front porch of this four unit beach house extended several stories in height including a roof covering overhead. Several structural issues were recommended for repairs and a follow-up estimate was provided outlining the repair costs. A structural letter was also provided following the site inspection.
Exceptional, very easy to work with. Job was completed on time and very professionally. I look forward to working with them again.
Modifications were needed to a garage roof truss to suit the clients needs. A structural drawing was provided in a timely manner as well as some verbal installation instructions to assist with the construction process.
Greg was fabulous and very professional! He was honest, and reliable. He help us meet of deadline with ease. Area Engineering, Inc., I would refer in a heartbeat for future projects. Again, thanks Greg and J.T. Management, L.L.C. looks forward to working with you in the near future. Thanks,
A structural letter, indicating that recent renovations to this residence were done adequately, was furnished to appease the city inspectors. The letter was provided quickly at the clients request and the desired city approvals were also obtained quickly. A brief discussion with the city officials may have also assisted to facilitate the approval this time.
Greg is very professional and knowledgable. As a principal transportation engineer, with 34 years of service, I was very impressed with Greg's evaluation and recommendation about my situation and plan to retain his firm to remediate my structural problems.
Structural drawings including a sequence of construction was provided for this project in addition to an estimated cost for repairs. This project entails the installation of several beams and columns and the lifting of two floors and the roof prior to installation of structural elements. Structural construction repairs are anticipated to start in the fall with completion before Thanksgiving.
Called back first thing after I submitted the request over the weekend, gave fair price, worked with us to fit our budget, turned up promptly, provided a thorough and thoughtful analysis, was personable and coherently expressed his findings to us. No pressure on follow up or sales outside of what we had asked for. Highly recommended.
This home was a multi-level colonial with several additions. In the past various renovations were done complicating the structural inspection. During the inspection it is important to understand and determine the structural load path from the roof to the ground. After following the loads down and considering the building history, several key observations and recommendations were made for repairs.
Greg was great, took the time to explain options.
In many cases, there are several solutions and the end result is financially driven. The client is given several repair "options" and the freedom to decide which one of them to go with.
Greg was absolutely fantastic to work with. He's so very good at what he does that I found myself trying to think up other projects where I could put his experience to use. I'd not only hire him again for his structural engineering expertise, but I found out that he's also a phenomenal contractor as well. He was patient in explaining everything involved, his estimates were spot-on, he would bring me in to point things out as the work progressed showing option, he was careful to answer all my questions and consider my concerns, and even helped give advice on several other "pet projects" I had already started on myself around the house. In all, he is the first structural engineer and contractor that I've ever been truly impressed with by the quality of their work. Thank you Greg!
Due to scheduling constraints these structural construction improvements were performed in a single 16 Hour shift. The race began at 7 am and ended around 2 am as anticipated. It was a long day but the first floor of this home is now flat and straight and, above all, much safer than before.
Greg was very professional and worked with me to meet county requirements. His rates were not excessive and his service was fast.
A structural inspection and certification was required by the local building department on the structural condition of several home renovation projects. The inspection and letter was issued in the same day to assist in meeting the client's goals.
