I contacted Custom Home regarding a bedrooom window that was "drafty". Shane was scheduled for a visit to get an estamate on April 11, 2011. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************* UPDATE: JULY 21, 2011- I am writing to update my experience with Shane of Custom Home Updates. It appears there was a breakdown in communication regarding e-mails. Shane reports that he emailed me, but I never received the messages. He was prompt, courteous, and professional. In additional to the window sill repair and painting, he custom made an oak window handle at no extra charge. I am very happy to report that my initial impressions of Shane was accurate. He is fair and honest. I know that I will be contacting him for future home improvement jobs.

In one word- amazing! Shane and his employee exude a professional integrity that unfortunately is all too rare in today's world. Honest, dedicated craftsmen at a reasonable price. You cannot beat it. Shane and his company are top-notch. From the moment I called for a free estimate, to the last moment in my home, Shane and his employee were was as responsive and friendly as one could be. Shane was extremely giving of his time, talent, and knowledge. For example, during the estimate he informed me about the various quality levels of tile and what that means, as well as various options available to me in deciding how to finish the shower surround. It was clear within moments that Shane was concerned with providing me the quality remodeled bathroom that I wanted. In other words, he was not looking to sell me on anything I did not want or need in an attempt to increase his own profit margin. It really was a partnership, with Shane providing his experience and professional judgment in helping me realize the bathroom I wanted. He provided me with an estimate within 24 hours of our first meeting. Once I contracted with him, he was able to start as soon as the materials were available- about 10 days. He estimated that he could finish the job in about 5 days and he did. At every step of the way, he informed me of the work they were doing, or about to do, and explained it to me thoroughly. Shane and his employee treated my home as if it was theirs. They were thorough in their clean-up every night before they left and always asked if I had any questions. Extremely punctual. When Shane told me a time to expect him, he was always at my home right at that appointed time. With Custom Home Updates, the customer comes first. Again, an amazing experience.

He did a good job. He answered all my questions and he laid the tile very well. It was very well done. He spent time answering all my questions. He and his partner did a good job and they worked quickly, which was good. Even though they are a small company, they did a very good job. They worked fast and they come when they say they will come. They were punctual and they were able to finish the work in a timely fashion. It was he and one other guy.

Service was very prompt and professional. We received a quote. They were there later that week to start and finish the work.

I had Shane recommended to me by someone else who was working on my home. He was able to come out that day and do a free estimate. After shopping around, he was the most reasonable and had the most flexible schedule. He was able to come in the next day after I decided to hire him. He did a great job, and I would definitely use him again. Shane can do a number of things to improve your house, including updating kitchens, baths, decks, tile, and trim. Very friendly, very professional - highly recommended!
