Custom Home Updates

This review is long overdue.  I hired Shane to install a tile floor in our master bathroom and to do some drywall work in the bathroom as well.  He did a great job.  As he was in the middle of that project, I asked him if he would rebuild our front porch. Thankfully, he had availability and was able to work in the porch about a week after he finished the bath.  In total, he spent about three days working at the house.  Shane is professional, trustworthy, reasonable, and a craftsman.  Normally, the saying goes something like, "Quality, quick, inexpensive - pick two."  With Custom Home Updates, you get all three.  I would hire Shane again in a heartbeat.

We had several projects that needed to be done at our church. Shane was wonderful. He not only suggested repacing the fascia with vinyl so it didn't have to be repainted every few years, this suggestion saved us several hundred dollars in labor for painting.  He repaired the damaged plaster in our sanctuary and repainted it to match the rest of the room.  You absolutely cannot tell where the repairs were made.  It is absolutely amazing! One person who bid the job insisted the whole sanctuary would have to be repainted because the paint could not be matched...I think he needs to take lessons from Shane.  The bathroom he repaired looks great...again, you cannot tell where the repairs were made.  He replaced the fascia around the church with vinyl and not only does it look 100% better, we do not have to worry about having it repainted again in a few years.  Much of this fascia work had to be done on a lift because the church is two stories high.  Everything that Shane promised, he delivered and it looks better than we could have ever imagined.  I only wish I had taken before and after pictures to show the difference and the quality.  I would highly recommend him, he will not disappoint.  If we need more work done in the future, I will definitely call Shane.  He and his assistant both were extremely professional and very nice to work with.  Shane was very patient with church members who asked questions and wanted to see what was happening.  Really a pleasure to have them around.

Shane and crew showed a commitment to exemplary customer service and attention to detail.  They did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it.  Communication was excellent as well.  We would not hesitate to call them again.  We are very happy with all work.

Shane gutted and completely remodeled a bathroom for us this summer, and he was unbelievably great to work with.  He always answered calls/texts promptly and happily discussed all sorts of aspects of the project (and even others that we were doing ourselves in the house).  He gave us  very solid advice and really listened to what we were aiming for.  He  (and helper AJ) did great work, and the bathroom turned out fantastic.   We're super happy with it, and that really says something considering  I'm pretty picky and I had a very detailed plan.   Price was reasonable  considering the magnitude of the work done (every fixture was moved) and the add-ons that cropped up (e.g. repaired and skimmed a bedroom  ceiling while they were there, too!).  After hearing about so many  contractor issues, we were pretty nervous since this is our first house  and our first big project, but I feel like we really lucked out finding  Shane.  We were all paid up and I asked him to come back to do a few  final touch-ups - no problem at all.  We'd absolutely recommend Shane to anyone.

Shane is a pleasure to work with, very responsive and communicates proactively which is big for me so I can plan ahead.  We had a very small job but Shane but never treated us like we were unimportant.  The place where the movers pushed the railing through the drywall was wall papered so we were worried that it would not look right when he was done, but you cannot tell that there was a repair done at all.  He also moved the place where the railing attaches to the wall to a stud which makes the railing more secure.  When the wallpaper started to peel after a week, I emailed Shane and he was back the next day to apply a better adhesive; he indicated that he had tried what was supposed to be a 'new and improved' adhesive but clearly it was not.  I appreciate that he came the next day when there was an issue.  Shane will be our first call when we have work to be done around the house in the future.

We have used Shane before. He does excellent work.  We needed some repairs done on the ceiling of our old home before we put it on the market.  He had to cut out an area in the drywall and replace it. Then he repainted the entire ceiling.  It looks very good.

Shane and crew arrived promptly each day, and finished the project in great time. We asked if he could paint additional doors that were not included in the original estimate, and he had no problem in adding them to his scheduled work list.  Shane is excellent at listening to any questions we had, and was quick to respond to our emails. We are planning to use his company, Custom Home Updates, in the near future.

We couldn't be happier with this company. They are professional and friendly. We had a plumber come in to install the new toilet and he accidentally popped up one of our new tiles. The plumber called Shane and they communicated wonderfully with the plumber to quickly fix the problem. The assistant was also very friendly and they even were friendly to our dog.

Shane and his crew did a fantastic remodeling job!!!! Drywall, Tile, Grout, Baseboard, Ventilation,Caulking and Prepping my parents bathroom from start to finish work getting it ready for paint. These guys can just about do it all... Bob Vila and the guys from This old House would be proud!!! Shane is an AWESOME!!! Craftsman!!! Just Hire Shane and you won't be disappointed!!!! Shane did an excellent job remodelling an upstairs room that we wanted to turn into a home office.  He made a built-in bookcase, improved some previously unusable cabinets, installed hardwood floor, repaired lots of crumbling plaster walls, and trimmed everything out.  He and his co-worker worked steadily on the project getting it done in the estimated amount of time.  When there was something I was not happy with, the cabinet doors, we discussed what would make them better and he found the materials needed and re-did them perfectly.  He also helped me find people to work on the other aspects of the project, window installation and plumbing.   The room is so nice now, it makes the rest of my house look bad.  I'll definitely be hiring him again to make the rest of the house beautiful.
