It was crystal clear Masada Security really wanted me to switch from my current alarm company to them. I might have considered it were it not for feeling very pressured. What I needed was two security cameras installed, mind you, in a system of cables that were already wired through the attic. Okay, granted it is work that should be done by people who are experienced and I give a five star for the quality of the work -- with the condition of course, that most of this stuff is plug and play (the cameras, the cables all just plug together and info a DVR) I already had the DVR set up. Their charge was $300 to install two cameras -- $150 per camera. I agreed because it mattered to me to have an experienced company do this. So it was pricey and in my mind, worth it. But this happened: one of my cameras started fogging up in the evening the very day it was installed. Then, about 2 am, it went in and out and then just died. I have had this system (very common one) for two years now and though they don't burn out often, it can happen). I called and told the owner what happened, asked since it was done just the day before if they could check it. Oh sure, for a service fee, and then they said they could sell a 1080 camera for $260. These folks are out of their minds. Yes after testing the power supply I verified it was the camera. And I know time is money. But, if these folks ever wanted to position themselves to get my alarm monitoring business, I would have appreciated a little goodwill to check the camera especially since it was just installed the day before and the price was very high. Not a chance. I have installed new cameras myself, it's not hard. I ordered the very same camera, a bullet camera 1080 online at the company I got them from for $62 and free shipping. Now, these guys will say oh we have commercial grade cameras. Well, so does the company I bought my system from. Please, look around. You will see the vast majority of these cameras are all a like -- whether they are bullet style or anti-vandal. The difference is in the video quality. Mine are HD with night vision of up to 60 feet. I'm sure these guys have the same. The point I am making is the gouging -- that is just that, gouging. I am not opposed to the free market system but I think people should know their prices are excessive all the way around, And if you can't check out your work a day later you don't need my alarm business. They say they would re-arrange all the cameras I have or add the two if I just went with their alarm company. I think people should always be wary of deals like that. Plus, the owner wanted me to take a photo of my alarm pad and text it to him. THAT made me very uncomfortable and I would not do that. They wanted my passcode so they could end my alarm monitoring with my current company. That is too aggressive, too overbearing and made me concerned. If I were a new customer, I would vet this company a little better. Anyone can collect a bunch of good rev
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I just wanted to address a few of your issues. Mainly there being a charge to return to your home when you discovered an issue with the operation of one of your cameras. Our warranty states that we will return at no charge within 30 days regarding all workmanship issues. What?s more any defective equipment provided by Masada is replaced at no charge for a period of 3 years; however regular service fees apply to all services provided pursuant to the 30 day workmanship warranty. I would have been happy to send a technician out to evaluate the situation, but if the equipment was found to be the issue there would be a service fee as well as a fee to replace the camera being that your cameras were not purchased from Masada. You are correct, our cameras are commercial grade and include a 3 year warranty. While they may be more expensive, I firmly believe consumers should do their research, as you will get what you pay for when purchasing elsewhere. In addition when I inquired about your alarm system and asked for a photo of your keypad it was simply to determine whether or not your system was compatible with our services of if we would need to provide new equipment should you have opted to switch to Masada for your alarm monitoring. Any time a customer purchases multiple services from Masada discounts are offered to them as a courtesy. There is nothing to be wary of, just our honest attempt at providing good service, that in this case obviously went very wrong. My apologies if this concerned you. We are a small family owned and operated company, far from the gouging mercenary you believe us to be. When given the opportunity we have proven this time and time again. Our service is second to none in the industry and that is the reason for all of the positive reviews you have found about Masada. Unfortunately, there will always be people that do not agree with our policies and that we cannot satisfy 100%, but we are doing the very best we can do to run an upstanding and lucrative company. Sincerely, William Burnham Owner
