Problem Description: Blows cold air instead of warm
Comment: Last summer my thermostat accidently was dropped off the wall, and the unit was stuck on 82. I purchased a new thermostat to install, but later decided to call a tech for installation. He did...but I had to call him back because the unit never shut off. He thought something else was wrong and ordered a part to replace..but then discovered it wasn't that problem. He spent some time on the roof, and finally the air was working fine. (That technician moved to Florida.) Fast forward to last winter and when I decide to use the heat it works fine during the day...but when the weather drops to 40's/50's the unit is blowing cold air. I call another AC company...and when they come during the day, the unit always functions, but still blows cold when the temp is really cold. They come out several times, and finally determine the unit is going into Defrost mode, but cant figure out why. He brings me a new thermostat...still happens. By now I am used to not using heat at night..and pretty soon the weather is better and I don't need the heat anyway. When it came time to use the air this year..it performed as to be expected. About 3 weeks ago or so, I decide to use heat--Ok during the day, but late night or early morning---i've woke up with it blowing cold air, and 63degrees in the house. So I dont use it at night anymore. And usually cant use it in the morning until the weather outside is 60ish. HELP! My unit is a 16 SEER AmericanStandard/Trane 2-stage Heat Pump.
