"There are many options out there for us. I was Fortunate enough to find Lawrence Electric Diversified Services, LLC and I'm more than happy. The workmanship, knowledge and the overall experience was great. Not only was the ceiling fan installed, but I had gotten stumped on the way. The wiring was taking care of as soon as they got To the house, it was explained to me what the previous owner did. It was fixed repaired ceiling fan installed, and I was off and running. Thank you Tom"

"I wanted a backup generator for my whole house. The salesperson was courteous and really knew his stuff. We discovered that the previous contractor who installed my Garage Air Conditioning did not get a city permit. The original contractor moved my ac unit and i had to get Arizona Backup Power to rewired the units. They were life savers. Since no one was going to put their name on the non permitted system, I had work the permits, before they could get the inspectors to pass the AC unit. Plus the builder SHEA in Trilogy, also installed two 220 VAC plugs in my garage and guess what they also did not get a permit. It took me 1 year, to get this done and ABP did not force me to pay for the work not done yet. I have no idea, how I would have gotten the permits without their help. The reason I wanted a whole house unit is that fact the a ton of people are coming from California, Washington and Oregon. They are bringing in electric cars and I don’t think we have the grid to handle them."

"bought a new ceiling fan for our dining room and was referred to Aiden from a friend of mine for the installation, he was easy to communicate with and he did a great job with our fan, during his visit I notified him of our low lighting issue in the hallway and he came up with a very practical solution of adding in 2 can lights, I had to schedule him a few days in advance because I had to get some 'stones removed but once I was home from the doctors he came like agreed upon and delivered! This is one business card Iâ m not going to throw away, will use him again in the future when we remodel our master bedroom!"

"Got a free estimate from Fabian showing exactly what he would do to complete the several projects I needed done after moving into our home in Surprise. I chose him after getting 2 other estimates due to his promptness, explanations and availability. He arrived on time, worked quickly, continued to check with me to confirm the work was what I wanted. He installed 2 separate outlets in my Garage that had none. Went thru attic and installed a fan/light fixture in a room we use as an office that did not have any lights, including running a line inside the wall to put in a wall switch. Installed a new light fixture in our front breezeway. Two of these projects I was told by the other electrician quotes couldn't be done due to no room in the attic without heavy labor costs. Fabian said and did it all himself in just 4 hours at a very reasonable price. I couldn't have been more pleased and have and will recommend him to anyone needed electrical work."

"Needed to upgrade to a 400 amp service. Great estimate in the middle of the price range of 3 estimates, but with more then the of what they would do than any of the 3. They give you a range of options. Superb work, they know how APS and the county inspectors work and were able to have the service put in quickly. Very prompt, work area was always clean, had to repair a couple of things that were not in the estimate, like our conduit to the solar system and took care of it all. Highly recommend."

"I recently got my Chevy blazer EV and didnâ t want to spend all night charging it so figured Iâ ll install a charging station at my house. Price was right and process was fast almost like adding an outlet (but not exactly). Tom answered the phone after 2 rings and was very friendly then I spoke to Jonathan who kinda went over the process and pricing. Installation was 2 days later (they offered to do it sooner but my schedule wouldnâ t allow it) and finished product looks amazing. We had solar panels installed 3 months ago so this whole setup is actually great. Thank you guys for a job well done!"

His estimate was also cheaper then 2 other guys on home advisers! i wanted to convert the Motion sensors in the backyard To on & off switch! & add 2 more light fixtures to give us more lights! Tony suggested instead of On & off switch! To timer switch! Which was a great recommendation! Timer switch not only gives you an option of turning light on & off! But also you can the timer to come on! & the switch wasn't no more bigger then the original then the one he replaced! I'm very pleased with his work & the cost! I would definitely recommend him!"

"Professionalism all the way. From scheduling with Miranda, to letting me know when Ryan (Electrician) would arrive and her follow up after the job was done to assure my satisfaction with the work, added the personal touch to their business. Great Customer Service!! As for Ryan, the licensed Electrician, he was professional, explained everything and completed the job efficiently and aesthetically pleasing. I needed a GFI for my irrigation system. It was originally housed in a rotted cabinet on the side of the house. He removed the old and installed a GFI switch and hung the irrigation mechanism and made it look pleasing. He also informed me that my circuit board was Very Old and suggested i replace the breakers. Funny thing, i had a list of things to check inside the house after he was done. When we entered the home after he replaced the circuit breakers, all the things (fans, lights, etc) that had not been working....were all on and working. Thanks Ryan! I feel safe in my home thanks to Ryan. It is very comforting knowing that a knowledgeable Licensed Electrician assures that your home is safe! Wonderful electrician and reasonably priced! I Highly Recommend Mauser Electric for your electrical needs. I have plans to use him again to have a few new lines installed for outside lights. And of course, for any other incidentals that may arise in years to come. I am glad to have hooked up with such a Professional Electrician! Great Company!!"

Brennan Johnson from Ignite solved the problem quickly by replacing the battery power with electric. He also installed new wall switches which are super easy to use compared to the old ones. Frequently asked questions

  • An electrician’s cost per hour comes in between $50 and $100. It’ll vary depending on your location and the type or professional you hire. Areas with a higher cost of living can expect to pay on the higher end of that scale. Licensing level may also increase the price.
  • Usually you’ll pay a higher rate for the first hour. This covers their travel and time expense. Emergency or after-hours rates are usually higher too – expect to pay an emergency fee of up to $300 plus a higher hourly rate.

Electricians do a fair amount of larger remodeling and new construction projects but also common residential projects including:

For cost information related to the above tasks, visit our Electrical Cost Guide.

  1. Do you have a license to perform electrical work in this state?
All states require an electrical license or work performed under a Master Electrician. You should also ask how many on the job hours of experience they have.
  2. Do you have insurance?
Never use one who isn’t insured. You can ask to see proof of insurance.
  3. Do you have prior work references?
You might skip this for small jobs like installing a light or outlet. For larger projects, always get references.
  4. What are your rates?
Always ask up front. Getting a detailed quote up front is the best way to go.
  5. Who is going to do the actual work?
Often, a Master Electrician will come out to diagnose and bid on projects, but they have their apprentice and journeyman electricians do the work. This isn’t a terrible thing, in fact it’s common practice. The Master’s license is on the line with any work he supervises.
  6. Is your work warrantied or guaranteed?
Any reputable company or contractor warranties their work, usually for at least a year.
  7. Are you usually on time?
Overbooking is a frequent problem with electrical work. Often, a service call goes long, and they end up showing up at your home late. This common complaint is easily remedied with an up-front and honest discussion. If they can’t be on time, make sure they’ll call.

1. Don’t Be Misled by an Electrician’s Hourly Rates

A truly skilled, well-equipped professional with a truck full of parts that charges $100 an hour can be a much wiser choice than an inexperienced hack, working with inadequate tools and no parts, but charging much less. Often, more experienced professionals get the job done quickly with warrantied work.

2. Compare Travel Charges

Rates reflect travel times. Travel charges can have a big impact on your costs and are in some ways easier to compare than hourly rates. Many electricians spend a third or more of their time navigating traffic on their way to a jobsite. Every contractor must find a way to pay for the expense of driving each day.

3. Bundle Repair Jobs Together

When you feel it’s time to call a pro, review your list and then conduct a mini-inspection of your home. Look for faulty switches and dysfunctional or crowded outlets. When the electrician comes, you’ll save money and time by getting everything taken care of at once.

4. How to Prepare & What to Know Before the Electrician Arrives
  • Be as thorough and detailed in describing your needs to your contractor. The more they know, the quicker the job will go.
  • Before they arrive, prepare a precise list of items you want serviced. Electricians have budgeted their time for a service call. They don’t have time for additional requests once they are on site.
  • Make sure the electrical panel box is accessible. You’ll pay for the time it takes to access it.
  • Clear away fragile items, knickknacks and furniture from areas where you expect the them to work.
  • If you have questions about the project, ask them before they start. Most are happy to run you through the problem and the process of fixing it.
  • Ask about potential issues after the work is complete. During a service call a professional will spot any potential hazards.
  • You’ll lose power to parts of your home while they work. Be prepared to pause anything you’re doing during the service call.
  • In most cases you’ll have the option to either pay at the time of service or have a bill sent to you. You’ll be able to pay with cash, credit and sometimes check.
5. Install Money-Saving Electrical Fixtures
  • By switching from ordinary incandescent light fixtures or bulbs to fluorescent or LED ones, you can substantially reduce energy consumption in your home.
  • Motion detector switches can help you save money on outdoor lighting while at the same time providing very cost-effective security to your home.
  • Creative landscape lighting and indoor accent lighting can make your home more appealing to you, your guests and potential buyers in the future.
