Solar Installs
"Porter Electric was fantastic to work with from the start. The contacted me ONLY after I had requested information. They do not go knocking on doors, like every other Solar company. Cameron came out and measured the roof, ran his numbers, and discussed with me my options and what I could honestly expect from my solar system. If it wasnĂ¢ t right for you, he will let you know. Natalie helped me get together the financing and lined up everything with Ameren, it truly was very little of my time or effort. They take care of everything for you. Nick came out to do the install. He walked me through what to expect and we walked the basement together, as he explained where he would be coming through the wall and made sure there were no surprises. The panels were up there in a day. They are very sleek on the roof, there is no visible conduit or anything running on the roof; I was extremely satisfied with how great the house looks with them on it. IĂ¢ d seen other systems where there is conduit all over the roof and the solar panels actually take away from the look of the house; this sure was not the case. My panels have been up since July 2023, and could not be happier. I recently switched internet providers so my inverter accidentally got disconnected. Cameron, Nick, and Natalie all reached out within a couple days and resolved my issue (I wasnĂ¢ t even aware of) promptly to get my service back up and producing. CanĂ¢ t recommended them enough. Now is the time to do it also! Almost half my system was paid for by state and federal energy credits. The rest is on a low monthly payment, with absolutely no up front costs. Thank you Porter Electric!!"

Roof repair water proofing no electrical, Lightning Protection - Install or Repair
"Mr. Jim Gorman who is the owner of the business called me back within a half hour of my email posting. He visited my home 3 days later, inspected things, and told me what the approximate cost would be. He and his helper then installed an entire lightning protection system on both my house and a back garage/storage area. He did things exactly as I wanted in every way. Also threw in a free weathervane which increased the beauty of my home. I would have no objection to recommending this gentleman and his company to anyone who is in need of a competently installed lightning protection system for their home/property. MID-AMERICA LIGHTNING RODS is one fine company run by a man who cares about doing good work according to the latest safety codes etc. Having lost my previous retirement home to lightning, it was very important to me to get this job done and quickly because the thunderstorm season is upon us and with the climate change, those storms are very wicked, especially here out in the country where i live!"

Lightning Protection, NO ELECTRICAL WORK
"John Sherlock and his wife Corrine called within 1/2 hour of looking for Lightning Rod installers. He was available and was over to talk with us within one hour. He sent all his credentials and licenses and insurance coverages of his business and they came over the next morning and completed the installation extremely fast. He gave a fantastic offer, and lifetime warranty coverage and will even come over and take down system when we replace the roof and place back up at no charge! His wife even saw some plants we had not put in the garden still sitting in containers, and offered and planted them in the spaces we wanted, just to help out. Very friendly, helpful, professional, extremely knowledgeable and even suggested adding Lakeland Electrics Surge Protector protection they provide to go along with the Lightning rods. Yes would have them again on any home anytime."

For cost information related to the above tasks, visit our Electrical Cost Guide.
A truly skilled, well-equipped professional with a truck full of parts that charges $100 an hour can be a much wiser choice than an inexperienced hack, working with inadequate tools and no parts, but charging much less. Often, more experienced professionals get the job done quickly with warrantied work.
2. Compare Travel ChargesRates reflect travel times. Travel charges can have a big impact on your costs and are in some ways easier to compare than hourly rates. Many electricians spend a third or more of their time navigating traffic on their way to a jobsite. Every contractor must find a way to pay for the expense of driving each day.
3. Bundle Repair Jobs TogetherWhen you feel it’s time to call a pro, review your list and then conduct a mini-inspection of your home. Look for faulty switches and dysfunctional or crowded outlets. When the electrician comes, you’ll save money and time by getting everything taken care of at once.
4. How to Prepare & What to Know Before the Electrician ArrivesPeoria Electricians are rated 4.8 out of 5 based on 505 reviews of 505 pros.
