Hired this company for radon mitigation in a crawl space here in pennsylvania,My levels were 10 to 12 pci/l when the vents are closed for winter.The estimate was $1200 for a 40 x30 space and there was plastic just installed 2 years previous from a vapor barrier job,So they used the existing plastic.After a week I noticed the radon levels were high and the fan was making a grinding noise every 3 or 4 seconds which I could here in the house,So I went into the crawl space to see what the problem was and noticed that the plastic was not seal against the block wall foundation correctly and it pulled away in many spots,Also noticed that the pvc pipe coming from the input of the fan into the crawl space was not sealed and leaking air.Also noticed that when the fan was running I put my ear next to the outside housing and heard water splashing inside,The company did not install any kind of condensation bypass around the fan output which is recommended by most professional to prevent water from falling into the fan blades from warm moist air from under the house condensing when it meets cold air naturally.So I call the owner of the company days ago and he said that the condensation bypass do not work and not needed and said that the plastic not sealed to the inner foundation walls will not make a difference in the levels of radon and for the feed tube that pulls air from under the plastic not being seal and leaking air he he said they were not sealed and changed to subject.He said he would call me back and never did,He laughed out loud 3 times in our conversation which I found offensive due to it seem he always tried to talk down what I was trying to tell him about the problems of the install.The person who did the install cut the pvc pipes right in the center of my walk way to my house,He also did not seal the pvc pipe when it goes into the crawl space through the band joist,He calked only 270 degrees of the hole.I ran the power since I do that kind of work for a living,So I dropped a line right were the pvc goes into the crawl space so that was easy for him.Very disappointed as I have a portable radon detector from norway lcd display and it read very close to a professional reading done here a year ago with a sun nuclear 1027,So I know the level are not exaggerated.Took the one person 6 hours to complete the work and did not even have an invoice to give me,They had to send it through e-mail.The work was done rushed and sloppy,The installed left thing undone,There is more but this should be enough info to dissuade a potential customer for using this company.
