We asked several companies for estimates and PHM was the best response. Pat Murphy came over and spent about an hour with me, giving me options that I hadn't even considered, explaining to me the art and science of landscaping. He was clearly knowledgeable. He gave me an estimate right away and walked me through it so that I would understand all the charges. We hired Pat and his crew and they started work about a week or two later. They arrived exactly when they said they would. I was introduced to the foreman, Eddie, and the whole crew. They went over the job one more time with me to make sure we were all on the same page. The work went on for that whole day and the next day. They cleaned up after themselves the first day before going home. My neighbors and I were treated with respect throughout their work. There are a couple of things that made this a particularly good experience. The first was the patience of the crew with my many questions and change requests. In the middle of the job, I asked them to remove a rusty, sharp metal fence that was buried in cement for two feet under ground. They looked at it, gave me some ideas, and nicely agreed to remove it at a price that I thought was extremely fair. The second change I requested had to do with the shape and path of the brick walkway. Eddie put in the bricks four times on a particularly difficult curve without losing patience with me or even getting (at least outwardly) irritated. Their only comment was that it was important that I was happy with the end product. In the end, I do love my walkway. It now has a beautiful, wandering curve at the end that looks graceful. Our original agreement was that after all the grading was done they would re-seed the entire lot for a certain price or lay sod for about 800 dollars more. We chose the seed option. Near the end of the project, Pat said that he was worried that I wouldn't be happy with the germination of the seed given that it was so late in the season. He really wanted me to be pleased with the end results, so he cut the price for laying sod by more than half. My friends and family can't believe what a great deal that was. And Pat was right. I love my new green grass. Perhaps the best way to describe Pat's crew of four guys is through the eyes of my neighbor. She had several perennial plants that were growing intertwined with that old rusty metal fence. Before they took out that fence, the guys gently untangled those plants one at a time so that they would not be harmed in the removal of the fence. These guys are great.

I can't say enough how pleased we were with Pat Murphy and his crew. They were professional, timely, quick to respond, and never got irritated with all the little changes we made along the way. My neighbors even commented on their professionalism - my neighbor's flowers were intertwined into a fence that the crew removed. Not a single plant was harmed because they were so careful! We love the work that they did and feel like we got an excellent price and value. We have already recommended these guys to family who have a project coming up,
