It was good and bad. The work they did was good. They came when they said they were going to come. But, it was clear from the beginning that for the guy who ran it, it was just sort of a come-on to add extra fees to it. Before they even showed up, he called me up to get my address so that he could send me the bills for the extras. They hadn't even been there yet. It clearly said in the write up that they would just bag the materials and leave it behind which we needed to take care of, which was easy to do. He hauled it away and charged me $100 to just haul a few bags. So it was $250. But he managed to figure out a way to add another $150 to it. Even though they did a good job, I wouldn't use them again and I wouldn't recommend them.

I'm sorry I did not respond to your review sooner. I did not notice it when it was posted. I had quoted you that if we needed to haul any yard waste away it would cost $27.50 per cubic yard of debris hauled away. I'm more than happy to leave it at the property or we can spend time putting it into garbage bags for you. My workers and myself understood they were to haul the debris away. We would have been happy to leave the debris at your property and spend time to put it into garbage bags for you or we could have left it in a pile for you to put into bags. That is why I lead every customer know what we charge for disposal. I am sorry that you are disappointed in the overall project.

We had a big shade tree washing out. We wanted to save that tree. Pat was great in helping us plan a way to do that. Mike worked very steady and hard with lots of hand digging. Installed the wall and drain field. It looks great!!

The crew showed up on time. They listened to what I needed done and were clear about what it would cost. The work was done to my satisfaction and they gathered the trimmings and disposed of them. We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
