How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because Generation 3 Electric has been servicing the electrical needs of the Philadelphia metro area for three generations. Gen3 is your friendly neighborhood electrician. My Father apprenticed to his Father—and I apprenticed to mine, repeating an invaluable tradition of child labor and a great place to learn a trade. Beginning at the age of 13, I worked with my dad every weekend and summer vacation in homes throughout Philadelphia repairing and rewiring all levels of residential electrical systems. Studying electrical engineering and earning a degree in architecture has given me a solid advantage in solving the myriad of residential electrical problems. Generation 3 Electrical, Inc. takes pride in every job—building confidence by how we do things—by being prompt, thorough and leaving every job site finished and clean..

I had a great experience from initial inspection with Michael to Dan and Ian doing the work. Dan kept me posted at all times about their progress, including sending me photos. Very professional and thorough. They provide a picture of the person coming to your home to do the work and keep you posted of their arrival time. Pricing is competitive but they do offer coupons that could be used. We used them in the past for major electrical rewiring with no problems. Will use them in the future.

I had my electrical box replaced. They were very pleasant and professional. Arrived on time and completed the work in about 2 hours and explained what they were doing as they went along. They put labels on each of the switches so I would know where everything was. The las electrician I hired to add switches didn't do that.

Upgrade an Electrical Panel

I highly recommend GEN3. My two electricians (Aaron Davis and Luis Donastorg) were great and did a phenomenal job. The were very informative and kept me engage the entire time. They took personal care to my house and made it a teaching moment for me to be educated about electric work for your house. Most homes in Philadelphia are not properly inspected for electric efficiency when being sold. They compared and contrast about the previous patch jobs that probably took place before I bought the house 12 years ago. I am now up to date with a current circuit break box with compatible and up-to-date breakers... AND my house is finally GROUNDED!

Marc Green was the technician from Gen-3 that hung several pendant lights in my home. He was on time, efficient and meticulous. I highly recommend him for any electrical work. Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
