"We highly recommend Arthur and his team. They met all of our expectations! They are all friendly, fast, and have great attention to detail. Art had really great ideas, and his eye for design and color are impeccable. He will be doing a kitchenette as well for us in a few months. He has already completed flooring for my daughters house, and they look great. I will continue to recommend their services to friends and family."

"I hired Pascal to build tall black linen cabinets in my 9-ft high bathroom, in between two walls. He was absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. He was a breath of fresh air in an industry that is far too often filled with people that cannot be trusted and are very flaky to work with. Pascal promptly called me after receiving my project request through Home Advisor. His customer service was top notch. He gave me a realistic timeline in terms of when he could get started and how long the project would take. He then surprised me by managing to squeeze me in weeks earlier than he originally promised. From the very beginning, Pascal asked me lots of detailed questions and thought carefully about all of the pitfalls that could arise in my particular situation. He made a number of great suggestions and gave me options every step of the way. He never made any assumptions and always communicated what his plan was. Pascal is also extremely easy to get a hold of. He answered his phone almost every time I called and/or promptly called me back if he missed me. His craftsmanship is solid and everything turned out beautifully. My project was particularly challenging because I asked to have the cabinets painted with a satin black finish, which is not a common color for cabinets. It all looks great though. Pascal uses high-quality materials, including the soft-closing, easily detachable hinges. Overall, he is very conscientious and detail-oriented. Moreover, he is simply a friendly, interesting, and positive person who I enjoyed chatting with during the installation. I would highly recommend Pascal to anyone who is looking to build custom cabinetry in their home!"

"I cannot recommend Ben & his team enough! We hired them to paint the exterior of our historic home (built in the early 1920's) and were so pleased with the outcome. Ben went above and beyond to ensure that all of my questions were answered and that we felt good about the end result. I was extremely impressed with their prep work and the level of detail to all the various aspects of this paint job! I would certainly recommend 4th Generation Painting and will plan to use them again in the future for additional painting jobs."

HomeAdvisor makes it easy to connect with pros near you. You can read reviews, get quotes and book appointments all in one place.
Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
