Hello, my name is Louis Schwartz and I am the owner of Tiderunner Engineering & Design, P.C. I started my civil engineering business in 2004 to focus on the residential construction Industry. With over a decade of experience in the industry I have substantial knowledge in preparing plans for renovations and/or additions. I have also been reviewing plans in Suffolk and Nassau counties for code compliance written by others, structural analysis, and residential sanitary system design. I work very close with both contractors and homeowners and I enjoy supplying engineering support for contractors in the residential construction field. My company has been very successful over the years because I provide such a variety of services as both a structural engineer and a plan preparer. I have helped several residential contractors with building permit application preparation, grading and drainage plans, as well as acquisitions. We had just purchased a house and after we closed saw a crack in the foundation of the house. We were very nervous and wanted to be sure that it was not a danger to us. We called Mr, Schwartz who returned out call diligently and saw us within a couple days of us making contact. He was very detailed and thorough and gave us advice on simple things we could do to maintain a healthy foundation. Within 24 hrs of his visit he provided us with a written report about everything he observed and advice he gave us. Very professional.

Tiderunner Engineering and Design arrived on time for the appoint. the engineer was very helpful with the support beam design and added helpful suggestion.. the company sent the beam replacement plans via e- mail within three days as they stated they would, and if Ihave any questions they would gladly talk to me over the phone. I am very happy with this company.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
