Write a ReviewI selected SECI Construction from a list of 3 provided by Angi's List. It was the last contractor that I interviewed, on April 15, 2025. Although the estimates from contractors #1 and #3 were close, I chose SECI Construction, contractor #3. Contractor #2 was too low, I thought, and didn't give me a comfortable feeling. All contractors inspected the attic, but only the SECI rep, who was also the supervisor of the job, went on the roof and did a thorough inspection. We spent about 3 hours going over the details of the project, after which he gave me a price of $10,000 for the complete job, which would include up to 192 sq ft of plywood to replace any damaged wood. I charged $3000 on my credit card as a down payment. The crew chief arrived on Tuesday, Aprill 22, 2025, at about 7:00 am, while the rest of the work crew arrived by 7:30 am. They placed tarps around most the house to protect the shrubbery from falling debris. The project supervisor arrived later. The asphalt shingles and vapor barrier had been removed down the wood by about 12:30 pm. It was then that the project supervisor came to tell me that some of the existing wood, which is 3/4" tongue and groove, was starting to come up at the joints, and would splinter if more nails were put into it. Walking on it, he said, it did not feel very secure. At no time during our original 3-hour discussion did he mention this possibility, given the age of the home, nor did he give me any indication that he suspected this during his inspection while on the roof or in the attic. He offered 2 solutions: the first was to tear off all of the existing wood, down to the rafters, and replace it with plywood. This would be the more expensive of the two, and he didn't think all of the work would be completed that day. The second was to make any necessary repairs to the existing wood, then cover the whole roof with plywood. He said that, should I decide to install the new asphalt shingles on top of the existing wood, chances were that I would need a new roof much sooner than if I followed one of his solutions. My impression of the roof from ground level was that it looked sound, especially since it had not been leaking. Even when I examined sections of the old wood after his crew began making repairs, I didn't see anything that couldn't continue to be used. I felt coerced into going along with his second solution, which I finally agreed to. The additional work amounted to about $8800, even with some discounts, as well as masonry and flashing work, which he said he did at no additional cost. This additional work also included a surcharge for using my credit card, only making matters worse. When I called the office to complain, a salesperson told me that he would only be able to give me a 10% discount, which, he said, the project supervisor had already done. When I asked who was above him, I was told it was the owner. When I asked to speak to the owner, the salesperson told me that he would relay my story to the owner, and that the owner would speak to the supervisor. The supervisor told me the next day that the owner was upset with him for giving me the discounts he gave me. The crew was totally professional, working together as a team that obviously knew what they were doing. I have nothing but praise for them and their crew chief, who worked right alongside them.
They did a really nice job and in the time they said they would
If they had not done decent work this would be a zero star review Sadri who gave me the original quote was great, everything went downhill from there. His supervisor was something else. The day he arrived he said they did not know what they were supposed to do and they needed my copy of the quote to figure it out (red flag #1). Then kept it, I had to ask three times for it back. He kept trying to upsell us even after being told multiple times no. He kept saying it would be double if he had to come back later (red flag #2). I did not notice he started doing additional work outside the quote until he came to tell us he did work outside of the quote and it would be 50% more than originally quoted for the garage for doing the entrance of the garage (he was supposed to only do the inside). He never asked if we were ok with it or willing/able to pay for such a price increase (red flag #3). It is beyond unprofessional to do that, put me in an awful position as I did not have the budget for what he was asking. He was then trying to intimidate me not only to get full payment for the additional work but also to pay him DAYS before the job was done multiple times after being told payment would be made upon job completion (red flag #4). The garage and pavers were done decently. However, the edges of the pavers ended up completely different than promised during the quote. They said the cement would be up to the middle of the brick slanted in a way I could grow grass. It honestly looks like they had extra concrete and just poured it all over without thinking. No grass in growing on that. The rest of the concrete they just dumped on my lawn and drive way. It is currently a mess. I now have to pay landscaping to clean up the yard and find another company to fix the edges of the pavers. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE
Agreed to replace the roof for $8000 . Then once the old roof ripped off, to replace, the cost increased to $13.500. We had to pay $13,500, They should not increased the cost once they ripped off the old roof.
We got a patio done on land that was not level. They leveled it and laid out the patio seemlessly without requiring any supervision. Love the work and quality
They are going to do some patch work on my roof this week. the men who came to my house were very thorough. Very understanding and knowledgeable of my needs. They listened to what I was telling them and sat down with us and answered all our questions. We may hire them to install our new roof.
Great people at Seci General Construction, Inc., Sandri and one of his guys came out to help with Roof Inspection. I have been in the roofing business and these guys are the most professional I have ever seen. I would never choose any other company with roofing repairs or installations.
The most professional company that I have dealt with on anything in a long time. They are all about service.
