My experience with Home Improvement Specialists has been excellent. My home needed a wide variety of repairs and upgrades, things that had been neglected in recent years due to my husband's medical issues which prevented him from completing projects he had started when he lost his vision. Unfortunately my husband passed away and I had to hire someone to finish the work he started, and to make some pretty major upgrades to my home. The first person I hired didn’t get very far before needing surgery himself, leaving him incapacitated and unable to do the work. I reached out to Home Improvement Specialists after seeing their excellent rating on Angie’s List and after meeting with, and talking to Jody and Sean extensively about my needs, I immediately had peace of mind in their ability to complete the work and in the skill level of their employees. Every employee that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting has been kind and professional, and have completed their assigned tasks to perfection. Jody and Sean have gone above and beyond for not only me, but also for my mom who recently fell off of her front steps cracking her head open on the side of her house. When I asked for an estimate to install a railing at Mom’s home, after hearing what had happened, Jody not only provided me with the estimate in a day, she also had the railing installed within two days of the accident. Every project to date has been provided at a fair cost by highly skilled employees in a professional and compassionate manner. Part 1. I split this review into two parts. The contracting process and the actual construction work. First, the contracting process. Jody Rattigan is a very personable woman who is quite engaging. That said, I found the contracting process disorganized, overly complicated, and difficult. The contract, itself, was hard to read, and I felt I had to continually push for clarification. Unfortunately, I missed some critical details, the most important being the amount of markup in each of the contract areas which I learned too late was excessive. My bad. In addition, as the contact person for the remodel, she was unable to answer most of my questions and failed to follow through in a timely manner on multiple requests for a physical color sample of the cabinets. On at least two occasions, she also called me to ask if a specific service was included in the signed contract that she had drafted and should have had at her finger tips. There's more, but I think this is sufficient. I cannot foresee a time when I would work with her again. Part 2. Construction The one thing Jody did right was to hire, as subcontractors, Brothers Home Improvement. Jeremy, Chris, Trevor, Kyle, Bryon are phenomenal! They are professional, competent, honest, punctual, and respectful. The quality of their work clearly visable in my 200 year old house where nothing was square or even. In the middle of the remodel, I even recommended them to a close friend who hired them to replace their roof and build a set of stairs to their porch. I highly recommend them and will use them again for all future home projects.

Their crew did a wonderful job the house was quite old 1910 they were working with bare walls they sheet rock the whole house ceilings walls everything looks Nice and straight now ready for paint could not be any happier will definitely hire again soon

Great experience with the company. It was a lengthy project and they remained patient and professional with us throughout the whole process. Really pleased with the final bathroom install.
