We built a new deck on our 1970 house in Shoreline. Cameron and his crew (Dale and Ryan in particular) are awesome to work with. Top notch quality work and we love the finished product that will last for many years to come. The team built the deck in record time - minus the railing which was contracted to another company. My frustration was with the railing company (apparently had not worked with them before). The glass railing took 3.5 months to deliver when they had quoted 3-4 weeks… and the communication on the shifting dates was spotty. This was also around the time of the massive heat wave this summer so some of the boards understandably started bowing and expanding - Dale came by each time and made sure to fix any issues. Really appreciated it.

This review is long overdue. Cameron and his crew were fantastic! Due to woodpecker damage, I needed to have my house re-sided in Hardie Plank, and I also developed a bad case of, "well, as long as we're doing that...." They removed the old siding, fixed any areas underneath that needed re-sheathing or re-framing (due to water damage), and then installed the new siding. That was all included in the original price quote. I also decided to update most of the windows and sliding glass doors in the house. When the new custom bay windows arrived and were incorrectly configured (no one's fault on my end or Cameron's, as I recall), he graciously re-ordered them, made triple-sure the configuration was correct, and only charged the price difference between the prior configuration and the correct one. His crew also replaced some exterior stairs and 3 decks for me, one of which was badly deteriorated. Not even pressure treated wood can withstand years of Seattle rain, so my main deck was rotting away. They did a beautiful job of repairing and replacing, so I also had them do the walkway up to to my front door to match. Then came the painting, and the paint job on my house is drop-dead, stunningly gorgeous. It was so stunning that the next two neighbors up from me (with identical floor plans), decided to paint their houses as well. All three are now bright, cheery, primary colors. Along the way, Cameron and the Modernized Exteriors crew did lots of little extras, kept me informed about how the work was going, had me inspect frequently, and charged very fair prices. They even sent someone out to fix an old window leak that hadn't gotten fixed by the re-siding process. My fiancee kept an eye on the work progress too, and as a tradesman himself, he highly approved of the quality of their work. I can't say enough good things, and I will hire them again in a heartbeat for exterior work. I just wish they also did interior work, so I could hire them for a bathroom remodel!

These guys are stellar. My deck was in disrepair and I was uncertain what to do with it - whether to totally knock it down and start anew, or to build on the existing foundation. Also what material to use - composite, wood, etc. They came out, looked at my deck, gave recommendations, and worked within my budget. We went with cedar, and within two weeks, I had an absolutely beautiful new deck, built on the existing foundation. I was very pleased with the whole interaction - they were courteous and professional, friendly and hard-working, arriving early and working through the day to get the job done. It was for me an exceedingly good experience with a contractor, and their work is solid. I was nervous as a first time home owner to hire a contractor, for fear of not knowing enough and being taken. I had spoken with several other general contractors and also specific deck builders prior to hiring Modern Exteriors, and each could have built a deck. One larger company offered a lower price but when they came out, the materials they suggested would have been sub-par and the deck would have been plastic-looking. These guys are a smaller business that build decks for a living, and are very good at it and clearly enjoy each project - like works of art. I highly recommend them.

Cameron owned this project from start to finish, so maybe this is a review about him and his team specifically. But this is some of the best experiences I've ever had with a contractor/vendor. Cameron always contacted us with any news/updates on when people would be out. He went above and beyond to help us visualize what things would look like once the project was finished. Then his team delivered, exactly as he said he would which is difficult considering how lofty the promises were. If I was hiring for this project again, I wouldn't change a thing.

My wife and I were very pleased with the finished product of our new composite deck and railings. When the estimator came out to our home we were very impressed by his knowledge of decking and the process. They finished a week ahead of schedule and the overall communication from start to finish was excellent.

The Project went very smooth. Cameron came out to our house the next morning after we reached out for a estimate. our deck was in bad shape to begin with so we figured it would be a complete tear down and rebuild and he agreed. we went over some design changes that we came up with and color options ect and ended on a Timbertech Product for the Decking and Railing. Cameron also showed us pictures on his ipad of some recent projects and how they build them differently from most contractors to make sure its done right. The final product turned out amazing. we cant believe what a difference it made to our backyard especially looking out at it from our kitchen.

I love my new deck. The crew was awesome and worked really hard to make sure everything was perfect. Everything was cleaned up after they finished working for the day and on the last day. The new deck is composite and wood.

Modernized just recently finished our deck for us in time for the sunshine. the communication was excellent with these guys. the finished product looks amazing and we are so excited to be BBQing all summer! the product we chose was a timbertech product composite decking. we wanted low maintenance that is why we chose it and it turned out even better than we had expected! two thumbs up on this one.
