Write a ReviewAa I was searching for a pro to fix our gas fire place, they are the first one to respond to my quote request. The person who called me was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions. The process, the price, everything was very transparent and made me feel very comfortable. On the day of the project, the technician called me to let me know exact time of arrival as the company promised. Two technicians arrived on time as they notified me and they fixed the problems in no time. They are very efficient and cleaned afterward and did not leave any mess. They are very courteous. I will use their service again.

Missed majority of cracks in the mortar; old caulking not removed or just covered with dry mortar; New crown around the chimney?s clay liner had a void that collected water because it was not profiled correctly; Spots grinded out left without mortar; Cracked mortar not grinded out or covered with a thin layer of dry mortar; Not having a proper size blade to perform the job; Mortar applied mostly with a finger and was too thin and dry, resulting in weak bond, shrinkage, and erosion; Terrible color matching of mortar; A cracked brick in the chimney corbel was left behind, even though spare bricks for replacement were provided; Job had to be completely redone by another company and it took them 3 days to complete it. In contrast, Cunningham did this job in roughly 5 hours with breaks and a 2-hour lunch. We filed a BBB complaint and they did not have the professionalism to respond to resolve the problem. Promised to refund a small portion but never did.
They were quick to respond and schedule. Came out within a few days and did a great job.

My gas fireplace would not stay lit. I had another company try to repair it two-years back with no luck. With the incoming cold I wanted to have it looked at again. The technician allen came out from Cunningham Chimneys. He was able to get the connectors cleaned to my unit that were clogged and I had a wall switch issue. He installed a new switch while out. He got the unit lit and stayed for over 30 minutes to make sure it was not going to turn back off. He tested it a few times and found it safe for use. Apparently a general servicing was all i had needed these years to be able to use my fireplace. Thanks to Allen at Cunningham Chimneys I have been using my fireplace the past week to knock the chill off in the house during this cold front and it has been functioning as it should.

I cannot express how thankful I am for Cunningham & Sons! We've lived in our home 10 years and have never been able to use our fireplace. Came out on a Sunday and on time. Put in a new wall switch and that fixed the problem of the fireplace not working. A very good job.

This is a case of customer service being way better than the product itself. I believe this company has unfair business practices and should be avoided. Every step of the sign-up was top notch. They called me right after the submission and even offered to send their team on new year day (which was also convenient for me given I had the day off). The office person, who knew I was a first-time homeowner, led me to believe this was an important inspection and preventative maintenance, and that it was thorough, including checking and cleaning the pilot, checking for gas leaks, cleaning the gas logs, etc. She even said if I did all four fireplaces, they would give me a discount. So I agreed at $129/fireplace. They called beforehand and arrived on time. Their team was professional and knowledgeable. However, the inspection was anything but worth it. They shined a lot at the fireplace and up the chimney. Each inspection was less than 5 minutes. When I asked if he was going to check for gas leaks as I was promised, he said No we are not the gas company.. They recommended one chimney be cleaned which I agreed to. In total, they were at my house less than 35 minutes and the bill was $715.85! Each thorough $129 inspection (regular price $179) was less than 5 minutes each. As they left, I told them I was not going to dispute it because I agreed to the $129 price but I expressed my disappointment that I was misled at the importance and scope of the inspection by the office person when I scheduled this. As I was explaining this, the second technician was shaking his head and looking down, I could tell he was a very honest man and felt bad about this situation. To their credit, the team conveyed this to the office which called me after the fact and they immediately offered a refund me $200. I told them it was not about the money, it is the principle. I am a lawyer, my husband is a doctor, we are professionals and we will always pay people the value of their knowledge and work. In this case, it was a case of being totally misled to get my business. I am confident that there are many other companies that would have done their 5 minutes inspection for free and just charge me for the cleaning, which I would have happily paid a lot of money for. The team overall was very knowledgeable and professional. I can not really tell if this is a usual business practice or a case of an overly excited office person too eager to get business. I am willing to give them the benefits of doubt because they have such good reviews but I am leaving the situation feeling thoroughly taking advantage of.
