Reviews
Write a ReviewOur project on a house we are planning to move into was two-fold: 1) scrape pop-corn ceilings, texture, and repaint; 2) paint the interior walls of the house. Anticipated duration: 2 weeks. Actual duration: 5 weeks, with around 3.5 working weeks. We extended the work to the paint job after the tops of wall paper was painted with ceiling paint. We hoped to avoid the time-consuming work of properly taping/prepping as well as the detailed work of checking for proper paint coverage and the technical work around windows, corners, trim, etc. The good: Emilio and his crew are nice. The crew worked when they said they would. Timing of payments made toward the project was reasonable (at least until the end for us). Initially, we were expecting a 4 or 5 star job based on these things, as well as previous solid reviews. The bad: poor project management, miscommunication, and unfinished work. Work not specifically pointed out will not be done. Emilio underestimated the work to be done and placed the blame on us for overrunning on the project. Extra detail below. Poor project management Floors and vents we were told would be protected were not. Popcorn removal led to significant amounts in the air ducts (a big no-no). Floors were protected only with thin plastic that quickly ripped, so drywall material and paint got on the floor; some long strips of carpet that have been painted and innumerable paint spots are on the hardwood. Requests to better cover the floors were not appropriately addressed. Taping and protecting was not properly done, leading to most outlets/switches being painted, poor lines in the corners, and many drips. Several walls had significant areas speckled with old paint. There were even two walls with roller hairs embedded in the new paint. Result: significant time was added to the project for repainting, cleaning, and touch-ups. On multiple nights with forecast freezing temperatures, the furnace was left off. This, and a house key left in the door after the crew departed one evening, led to our request that the crew not work for a week while we were out of town. Miscommunication A significant factor in hiring Emilio was his verbal guarantee that he would be at the house with his crew. However, many times we were there he was not there with his crew. Also, Emilio offered to replace the outlets, but explained he didn't know how and that he had meant wall plates. Emilio will not remove important fixtures such as lights and blinds in order to do a complete the job. We were asked to do such work ourselves on his schedule at the last minute, meaning we could only do a few of them. What sounded like it would be better than other painter/drywaller service turned out to be standard. Unfinished Work Part of our contract was for clean up. Emilio did spend a significant time cleaning up, the carpets in particular. However, bathrooms and sinks are not clean, windows (and treatments) still have paint on them, many lights and other fixtures were not put back to original form, floors have paint on them. We are stuck doing outlet replacements and the several hours of cleaning that resulted from lack of proper room preparation. On the final day, when it was clear Emilio had hours of work remaining and we had lost daylight to verify the final result, we offered to meet another day. Emilio refused because he felt was losing money on us, and after tense conversation we agreed to pay the balance of what was due based on his word that he would finish with the cleaning.
Hello Diane, This project was completed in 2022 and the scope changed during the work at the homeowner?s request, which extended the timeline beyond the original estimate. Since then, our company has grown and now operates under Rhino Construction Group with updated processes and standards. We wish you the best with your home. Rene Rhino Construction Group
I hired 614 Drywall to remove my popcorn ceilings, re-texture and paint. They were timely, professional, communicative, helpful, and did an amazing job. The ceilings look so great! My house looks so much brighter and updated. It’s a messy job but totally worth it. High quality work and I would recommend them to anyone!
Rene did an awesome job on our project. We had our popcorn ceilings removed and the entire interior painted. Although the project was extremely messy, Rene made sure we were satisfied at every stage of the project. We would hire Rene to do work in the future.
614 Drywall - Rene was excellent from day one. He was quick to respond and gave a fair quote for the task. The team was over the top with completing a quality job within my limited time line. I would definitely call on them again and recommend them.
We had a great experience with Emilio and 614 Drywall. We wanted the living room popcorn ceiling removed, textured and painted. We also wanted the faux wood beams painted to match. He communicated with us well and had Miguel out to complete the project very quickly. We love the result and it makes our living room look modern and crisp. We will certainly hire them again for projects as they are a great company!
Overall our experience with Emilio was good! He and his crew did awesome work within the time they originally told us (which was half the time given to us by other companies). Thanks!
I originally hired Emilio to remove popcorn ceiling ,re-texture and paint. I was really impressed with the work they performed. In fact, because of the great job they did, I had them install new doors for and and also re-texture one of my bathrooms. The price was reasonable, they were always on time, they kept me updated on where they were with each project. I plan on hiring them again to do more work in my home.
I chose Emilio with 614 drywall to mud, tape and texture the drywall in my basement. For multiple reasons, his quote was reasonable, his previous work was impressive and he was very timely in his quote and responses to questions. I am so happy that we chose 614 drywall to complete this project. The work was done with pride and the finished product was incredible. Emilio completed the 1200 sqft basement in the quoted time, and worked very hard to do so. I would recommend 614 Drywall to anyone who has ANY drywall needs.
We hire 614 Drywall to take care of our popcorn removal and re texture/paint the walls of a 1973 town home in Lakewood. They did an excellent job, work around the electrician’s schedule and patch the holes made by then. I am completely happy with Emilio, he is professional, knowledgeable and have a great customer service orientation. I recommend his company to whoever needs all type of drywall, paint and finishing work.
Great job!
