Reviews
Write a ReviewJuan has been in business over 20 years and their quality of work sure shows. They replastered and retiled our 20 year old pool in about 3 weeks. This included building a tanning ledge in the shallow end. Juan communicated with us through the entire process and Manuel’s pool care afterwards was fantastic! The pool is absolutely beautiful and looks better than when it was built! I have already recommended them to a friend. J&M is your choice for a pool remodel. You can trust them to do exactly as they say.
J M started off okay did not start on day promised, but that was ok. Charged me for draining pool that was already drained. They said because that covered preparing the pool so OK. The owner Juan said he would come out and do a leak test before they started so we would know if we were going to incur any additional charges. His crew arrived and started tiling the pool. I asked about leak test they said they knew nothing about it. I called the office and they said they would contact Juan then he came out. Great news no leaks so now I felt comfortable with them moving forward. The job went okay for a bit then they decided they had to sand blast the pool because they were having trouble removing the old paint and plaster. They made a huge mess sand blasting they even got some of my fence in the process. . After 2 days they asked when I could make a payment, I asked when are they coming to pick up the mess they made sand blasting. They came out that afternoon and did a decent job of cleaning up. So we moved forward. Then came the plastering, I upgraded to add pebbles for an additional $2000 and it came with a ten year warranty. Again the guys are messy when they plastered but this time cleaned up well, I guess they knew I would complain. We started filling the pool about 1/3rd of the way my husband called and asked if they had removed the plugs from the main drain, they said they did. So the pool filled the chemical guy came out and started treated the water I think his name was Manuel he is the only one who took time to talk to me about the pool proper way to run and take care of. My husband came in from out of town and noticed that the main drain was not circulating properly. So he dived in and took off covers and guess what plugs were in. And the had left plaster and pebbles in the wells. I called they came out and the dived in, and said plugs were out and that the wells being packed with plaster did not affect the pool. About 6 weeks after that we started having problems with the equipment when my husband checked the valves had pebbles in them, So the check valves were not operating correctly, he cleaned them out and everything was good. A week later again pebbles in the check valves and all the others. While on vacation the pool company called and said the pump went out. So we cut our vacation short and came home, my husband changed out pump and cleaned out valves. So we up and running again. ( I had asked J M there price to provide pool maintenance they never got back to me so I had to hire a different company.) Which is ok I am happy with the company we selected. So here we are 2 months after plastering still dealing with pebbles and plaster messing with our valves, which were all new we replaced all of them at the time the pool was done. I called around other pool companies and they stated that leaving plaster in the wells is alright but when they add pebbles they should clean them out completely. They also feel that that is why the pump went out. So I am guessing we will have problems for a couple of years. My husband cleaned out one of them and it had so much crap in there, I wish I could attach pictures. So if you hire them you have to check them step by step. The price was average I got 10 estimates some higher and some lower I went with a mid. So it is not that I went with highest or lowest I went middle.
They did everything they said they would do and did a great job. Very pleased and would highly recommend them.
Great Job and very affordable.
Very attentive to what I wanted done (replanted, replacement of cartridge filter, leak check, two lights replaced) at a good price. Work started on time, and done efficiently. Very responsive to questions and concerns.
J&M did a nice job of re-plumbing (in pvc) and replastering a 50 plus year old copper-plumbed pool. New main drain, returns and skimmer. All at a good price and far less disruptive to the existing deck and plantings than the other proposals I got. They were very cooperative in letting me locate, purchase and install the new variable speed pump, Hayward valve and LED pool light I wanted. The old pool plaster was soft/hollow so I paid the agreed extra amount to cover that, but the final result was a nice job with virtually no plaster dust to contend with on start-up. Their contracting documentation is rather informal and led to some minor miscommunications. But a nice end result and good value.
Juan and his crew were punctual, executed great-quality work and left the job site (our back patio) neat each evening. 100% satisfied with our pool remodeling. Of the five remodelers, we only received a list of references and a copy of his bond/insurance from Juan during the bid phase. He was professional, honest and had one of the best prices of them all for the work agreed to.
Had the following done to my pool: Replace all coping with flagstone, replace pool tile, replace ring and cover over the skimmers, replace old light with new LED light. After all the bids, we chose Juan because he was friendly and took time to ask us questions about what we wanted. Juan provided good feedback which helped us tailor our decisions and was very helpful in explaining how the whole process worked. The more questions we asked the more helpful the answers. We visited Juanâs showroom, looked over samples from several different vendors and his stone layouts which led us to even better decisions. My wife was very particular about grout color for the stone so we opted to pick something from Lowes and Juan let us know how much we needed. Juanâs team did a fantastic job for a very reasonable price. We are extremely excited about how the ânewâ pool looks and will call Juan when we are ready to re-plaster. BTW. We have already told our close friends about J&M!
As mentioned, it is difficult to reach Juan. Email is the best form of communication. The guys on his team are AMAZING. They are polite and respectful of your property: they are also extremely hard-working. Our job was completed on the exact timeline that was explained to us. We did not feel taken advantage of. Trust is huge because you likely know nothing of the plastering process. I know for a fact that we were lied to by other bidders. Juan used no scare tactics and did not press up to go above our budget.
I interviewed about 8 different pool renovation companies when we first bought our house that had a horrible pool in the back that hadn't been touched in about 4 years. When Juan came to our house he was the ONLY company that took the time to explain in detail everything that needed to be done. He brought samples of different plasters that were available and didn't try to up-sale us on anything. He also had the best pricing out of the other companies that provided us with bids. We ended up needing the following: re-plaster the pool, fix some coping pieces that were broken, new drain cover, new tile, new pump and new filter. They did it all! When they began Juan said it would take about a week to finish everything and a week later we were filling our beautiful pool! It looked amazing! They came out every day to brush and clean the pool and check the chemicals. Everyone that was involved in the process was very nice and knowledgeable. It was just a great experience overall! Since we had the work done we noticed that we were having to refill the pool more than we probably should. When I emailed Juan about this he was at our house within 10 minutes looking over everything! Turns out our skimmer is cracked (which we already knew) and will need to be replaced. You can guarantee we will get Juan to do the work! He has proven to be someone we totally trust with our pool and will use his company for years to come! I HIGHLY recommend J & M Pool Plastering!
