"Scott is a true professional. His estimate for a new garage door, with insulation, a garage opener and controllers, a new frame, and installation of a mail slot was only $30 more than another contractor wanted to charge me for just a door. He came on time for the installation, cleaned up everything and explained how everything worked. He said to reach out to him if we had any questions. I definitely recommend him for any garage door needs."

"I found Yuri on the HomeAdvisor website and hired him on the basis of his excellent reviews. He did not disappoint. We had a difficult project: installing a tile facade over a 25' brick fireplace in our home. After a week of treading carefully on scaffolding and essentially performing a highwire act, our new fireplace is stunning. We are grateful for his services and will hire him again in the future. I should mention that working at such heights was not his favorite part of the job (although he was quite cheerful about it) so don't be surprised if he is not eager to do it again. But his advice, preparation, tile installation, clean-up and work ethic were outstanding."

"Nate and his guys are an absolute joy to work with. So very knowledgeable, kind, attentive and caring. They listen to your wants and needs, they make recommendations and explain why they suggest it. They are all around wonderful people and they do great work! I'd call them for every job. They can handle anything that needs done so it is fantastic to know you can get it all done without worry."

"Dennis Morris is a true professional. Amazing work. We were in need of new walls in kitchen and did not have time to wait. Dennis had our walls done and ready for paint before others could come out. Price is very fair for the amazing work you get . We will use Dennis and recommend him VERY HIGHLY"

"I could not be more happy with Koala of NW PA. Note that I live in Pittsburgh, but Koala of NW PA has taken over the service area down here. I had a poor experience with the former Koala franchise owner in the Pittsburgh area (they bid a job for blown-in insulation, I paid a deposit, and then when they came to do the work, said there was no air gap and thus the job couldnt be done and they would not give me a full refund of the deposit. I thus held a "credit" to be used. I explicitly avoided recommending Koala to friends after this experience. When Koala NW took over the area, they proactively reached out to me and asked to come down and see what work they might be able to do to help. While I could not get blown-in insulation, they found several other places such as my attic, attic access panel, rim joists, and other air gaps going up from my basement that they could seal. They promptly gave estimates and responded to feedback. The estimate for work done was modified to match my existing credit as a customer service gesture. When they came to do the work it was professional and simple. They communicated well before, during, and after the project. They pointed out issues that they noticed during the installation and we quickly made adjustments. I have already been recommending the new Koala owners to friends in my area. Their customer service is many times better than the old owners and I highly recommend them."

"I was so impressed with the total experience with Revamp. Charles called me within minutes of my online search for a new door. Realizing he was 15 minutes from my home, he came, and much to my delight, he decided he could probably fix the door that I had backed into. Because of his expert skills, the work was completed in under an hour, and the door moves up and down with ease. The price that we agreed upon was VERY reasonable, considering what a new door would cost. Thank you Charles for your skills and kindness."

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
