"Nick painted our kitchen and bedroom, the kitchen ceiling needed repaired. He did an outstanding job on the ceiling and the painting is beautiful. He is very professional, neat, I would recommend him as one of the best contractors we have ever used. He will be doing any work we have in the future."

"We hired Andrew to completely replace the staircase leading to the basement of our house. He responded quickly to our inquiry, stopped over to evaluate the job and then provided a reasonable estimate within 24 hours. The work was completed within four business days as estimated. He is very reliable, knowledgeable and easy to work with and showed up to work everyday on time. He also brought his son to help who was very courteous and friendly. They did a high quality and outstanding job on the staircase and clean up. We were very happy. We have already talked about hiring him for more jobs in the future. I would highly recommend him to anyone."

"I found Yuri on the HomeAdvisor website and hired him on the basis of his excellent reviews. He did not disappoint. We had a difficult project: installing a tile facade over a 25' brick fireplace in our home. After a week of treading carefully on scaffolding and essentially performing a highwire act, our new fireplace is stunning. We are grateful for his services and will hire him again in the future. I should mention that working at such heights was not his favorite part of the job (although he was quite cheerful about it) so don't be surprised if he is not eager to do it again. But his advice, preparation, tile installation, clean-up and work ethic were outstanding."

"Zac is a very knowledgeable contractor. He gave us different options, with pros and cons and allowed us to decide. And he gave us a very fair price. His crew is amazing, good craftsmen and hard working. We could not be more happy with the end result. I would recommend this company to everyone."

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
