The Good: The called me right away, came over the same day, and gave me a free estimate. They were generally friendly and courteous at this point, and during the work being performed. The Neutral: The price for a single tree to be trimmed was $600, all for ground work. They had no permits, and were not ISA certified. They did not contact my neighbor regarding the trimming (which I've sense learned is standard for tree trimming companies) so I had to give them permission to enter their property on their behalf, or they said they would leave fallen branches in their yard. They broke a panel on my fence, but they offered to repair it. They drew up no formal agreement, so everything was done by verbal agreement. They entered my yard without knocking first on the day that the work was to be done. The Bad: During the project scoping, I communicated that I wanted to do what was best for the tree, and ensure it survived and was cared for. It was agreed that no more than 30% of the tree would be cut. More than 30% of the tree was cut, which can damage the tree especially considering it was not dormant at the time (which they stated it was a good time to cut - it was not). Following the work, I had an ISA certified armorist come look at the tree and their work actually INCREASED THE RISK OF THE TREE BREAKING, due to raising the center of gravity of the tree (as mentioned they only did ground work, or climbed on my fence). I immediately notified them that the work was not done to specification and I was concerned, and sent pictures. They responded later in the evening that the work was done to specification, and instantly mentioned that I needed to pay them immediately, or they would begin to tack on late payment charged of $150 per day, and take legal action against me. With legal action threatened (even if as a blatant bullying attempt) I ceased communication with them until I had a chance to speak with an attorney. They then attempted to call me at almost 10pm, and the next morning at around 7am. At around 8 they came by and said that if I didn't pay them they were also going to dump all the tree remains they had hauled off onto my front lawn. not once did they attempt to resolve this, or offer to come out and look at the tree to hear my concerns. I told the guy to come along to the back and look at the work. He agreed at that point that more was cut than should have been and offered to lower the price owed to $500. To put an end to the ugliness and due to the 'mia culpa' on their part, I agreed and paid $500. However, I have since had an ISA certified armorist come look at the tree, and come up with a care plan to ensure it does not die (which it would not have needed). This will now involve $1000 of additional trimming work on the top (where it actually needed trimming most) to reduce the collapse risk, and a treatment of kelp for the roots to help compensate for the shock of the over trimming. Perhaps this is an OK company for entire tree removal, but go with someone ISA certified for slightly more money if you're trying to save the tree. You'll save money and headache. Additionally, any company that attempts to bully their customers instead of work with them and understand the concerns is a company you should steer clear of.

Excellent communication and we’re able to get our tree down within 3 days instead of waiting 6 weeks for the larger landscaping/tree companies.
